Hello everyone, and happy New Release Monday! Today I give you a special map I've been working on I call the Los Muertos Tar Pits! This map was inspired by both my own CoS game and a real-world landmark that I live next to; the La Brea Tar Pits.
In my own CoS game in the swamps of Berez, I had the swamp water turn to tar within a mile of where Baba's Hut currently is. This was to help the players find her visually but also to show her evil presence in turning the very water into a black viscous tar. This tar proves extremely difficult to traverse and if fantastic for hiding all manner of horrible beasts. I also added the giant bones as a warning to the types of massive creatures roaming the swamp and once trapped in the tar, their bodies eaten alive and picked clean by the scavengers of the swamp.
For those of you running other campaigns, this would be a perfect lair for some mischievous Boggarts!
For this map, I created a total of eight color moods to help you cultivate the perfect atmosphere for your game. Each of the moods below comes with rain & fog options.
- Bright
- Dark Fairytale
- Dead
- Ghostly
- Gloom
- Night
- Verdant
- Warm
For my Champion Tier Patrons, you get the following with their map release:
- 8 Color Mood Variants
- Rain & Fog options for all
- 4k / 8k Resolution
- Grid / No Grid
- Jpg / Webp file formats
- VTT Sizing guide
As I get back from vacation and get back into the full swing of things, I'll be working on recreating the Counts Manor dungeon map by Pyram King. I am also working on creating a river/wetlands map, which was inspired by the River Ivlis south of the Village of Barovia (I put a quest there from Bildrath in town to retrieve some previous adventure gear and some nasty water creatures).
After this, I plan to pivot back over to the Ghosts of Saltmarsh project and create the next large installation for the city: The Dwarven Mining HQ! I'll have some more CoS reworks along with (finally) finishing up the Interactive Tome of Strahd.
I am very humbled and honored for your continued support, and I hope you have enjoyed the Los Muertos Tar Pits!
Cheers,
DM Andy
