Hello everyone, and happy Release Monday! For today's release, I bring you a "two-in-one" map that serves two different purposes. Firstly, this was inspired by the Megalith site near the Old Mill from the CoS module, and I consider this my V2.0 for the Megaliths. There are versions with just the stones only and without any of the ritual items (amber, salt circle, lanterns, etc.). Secondly, I created this map to support the "Binding of Vampry" ritual outlined in the Lunch Break Heroes guide: Raising the Stakes. For those unfamiliar, this encounter acts as a "final" battle once Strahd has been defeated, and your players can attempt to bind the essence of the dark vestige Vampyr back into its amber jail. You can get a free copy of the Raising the Stakes guide on the Lunch Break Heroes site here

The exciting feature of this release is I have collaborated with an artist peer to draw me up some custom gothic lanterns to use for the encounter. This allows me to distribute .png files of both the lit and unlit lanterns and stay within the ToCs of Inkarnate (which prohibits distributing any transparent files). This way, you can use these lanterns as tokens during the encounter to show which are lit and unlit (which is a core mechanic of the fight).

Credit for the lantern art goes to Mongoosejacket on Insta (https://www.instagram.com/mongoosejackart/)

I wanted to create as many versions as I could think of to reach as many different types of use cases for this map as possible.

The Binding Ritual maps you'll find in the following color moods: Dark Fairytale, Gloom, Ghostly, & Night.

Each map that includes the Ritual features has a variant without the lanterns, so you can place your own lantern tokens and switch them from lit to unlit. I've also included a variant with the lanterns but unlit so you can add your own lighting, and a version with everything lit up!

Of course, each color mood comes with a variant that does not include any of the binding ritual items, so that you can use this for one of the three Megaliths sites.

I can't believe I'm already thinking about July's releases, and the year is more than halfway through! Time really does fly when you have your nose in map-making most of the day. With this map finished, I will be moving on to the monthly Lunch Break Heroes adventure to end our month. This time, we revisit the town of Lothburgh from the In the Name of Science adventure. For this adventure, I'll be working on a parchment map of Lothburgh (in the style of the old London maps), a grand Chancellor's audience hall, and the interior of a clock tower for some really neat and different maps. The adventure is full of mystery & political intrigue, and I look forward to sharing that with you all.

Once July hits, I'll be hitting the next location in Saltmarsh, "Elliander's House," along with working on the second part of the Temple of the Lost Fane map to support the new adventure Pyram King and I have been working on.

As always, thank you for your continued support and belief in my map-making abilities, and I'll catch up with you all on Sneak Peek Thursday!

Cheers,

DM Andy

Nice, now I have a map to use if my players decide to challenge Darklord, lich & lesser deity Vecna in his domain.

I think maybe we're missing some lanterns? You have lantern tokens with rings, but none without. Also, the full sized lit lantern is massive, around 1000 pixels of white space. Finally, your lit lanterns in the maps appear to be reddish-orange, whereas the lit lantern in the tokens is a sort of.. dirty yellow-ochre with an orange tint..? Also.. I told Inkarnate to get bent with their dumb terms of service. I think you did right about not distributing one of their lanterns, because they're trying to keep their artwork in a closed system. However, if the people running that show had any sense they would have fixed the issues I told them about over a year ago now.
