Update: May 11th, 2023: I had a few requests to include some empty amber sarcophagi for those who want to create their own dark powers. I have included a new .zip folder with a version that contains four different sarcophagi with empty name plates and different flooring types. This is on a very small 15x15 grid, and I've included them in both 4k and 8k attached. Enjoy!

Original Post:

Hey everyone, and Happy Release Monday! Today, I'm pleased to bring you the second release of the Amber Temple; The Lower Level!

Last week, I released the upper level and exterior, and this release will complete the Amber Temple V2.0 re-work (one of many to come).

Additionally, I have created a version that contains all 20 rooms within the Amber Sarcophagi as detailed by the DragnaCarta CoS Reloaded Guide (Found here). These are 5x5 mini maps, and I've labeled each one with the vault number and name of the dark vestiges that are trapped within. Will your players release them from their amber prison?

Much like the upper level, you'll find a more detailed version of the Amber Temple, including the Amber Sarcophagi. I added my own little tweak to them, and each Amber Sarcophagus is placed on an obsidian platform with creeping black vine-like tendrils twisting and writhing around the Amber, holding it in place. I wanted to create a way to visually represent the evil within each Amber Tomb, almost bleeding out and whispering to your players.  In the empty treasure room, I added massive cracks in the ground to hint at the Amber Golem crushing any looters that broke into this room while I focused on each individual detail of the treasure piles in the other treasure room.

You'll also find the small hidden room in the southern crypt, which is detailed in the Pyram King Legends of Barovia Guide (You can find the original video here). He has placed the third gem from the Wizard of Wines in this almost empty location with some fantastic encounter suggestions.

Additionally, I created a version of each map that swaps out the broken Amber Sarcophagi with Vampyr's tomb in area X42, as suggested by Lunch Break Hereos, to represent the freeing of Vampyr in Barovia and hinting that there might be something even more evil pulling Strahd's strings.

Like the upper levels, there are 4 color variants for this release:

Day: This is my "standard" version of the Temple as I intended the color scheme to be. It focuses on three key aspects; A feeling of coldness from the front and the amber glow from the walls all while remaining dark and foreboding.

Bright: This is a brighter, more vibrant version of the temple. Great if you want to control your own level of darkness.

Gloom: I've toned down the reds and amber and focused more on the greyscale of the map to give a more washed-out and gloomy feel.

Night: The glow of the moonlight reflects off the snow and creates a dark and cold feeling on the inside.

For my Champion Tier patrons, you get the following in this map release:

  • Grid / Non-Gridded versions
  • 4k / 8k Resolution
  • 4 Color Moods
  • With and without Amber Sarcophgus Interiors
  • LBH Version (Switching the broken Sarcophagus)
  • Webp files in 4k / 8k
  • VTT Sizing guide

Now that this large project is behind me, I can re-shift my focus over to the next Lunch Break Heroes adventure, which will use my rebuilt map of Berez for its own purposes, giving you a great adventure to run to use that map! Additionally, I'll be creating a series of outdoor maps to support this new adventure. My goal will be to make them versatile enough to be used not only for the adventure but for your own dark fantasy needs (Such as outdoor encounters in Barovia).

Once this is finished, I'll be switching gears back to Ghosts of Saltmarsh to work on the next location, which will be the Guard Barracks and Jail location, and after that, I'll be working on the first of three levels of the new dungeon Pyram, and I are working on; The Pillars of Ravenloft.

As always, I appreciate your support, and I hope you have enjoyed the v2.0 of one of my older maps!

Cheers,

DM Andy

This is amazing, each of the dark power rooms are especially beautiful. Truly wonderful. I can't wait for my players to get here.
