Hello everyone, and happy Release Monday! Today I have my newest map; The Knight Inn. This map is part of a series of maps to support the latest Lunch Break Heroes adventure, which I will release for our community at the end of the month.

The Knight Inn is a two-story inn/tavern off the main road. It was once a well-traveled and visited location until the road was rebuilt to support more commerce, but now the inn finds itself off the beaten path. However, this is a perfect place for your adventuring party to rest their heads and get a drink after a long day of adventuring! They will find solace, warmth, and comfort here... at least until they fall asleep...

When your party "awakens," they find themselves in a nightmare world filled with horrors. They will have to deal with the twisted versions of the employees of the Knight Inn in order to make their way through the horrible world they find themselves trapped. Will they be able to find the dream-haunting Motakka creature in time to end this waking nightmare before it's too late?

The Knight Inn has 3 core versions; 1st floor, 2nd floor, and roof. Of these, I created the following variants:

Day: I wanted to create a warm and inviting atmosphere with rays of soft sunlight piercing through the windows. Your heroes can take refuge in this large inn, sitting by the massive hearth in the center or sitting at the bar sipping on some ale or whisky. The inn is staffed by three, all of who live within. There are even a few stables to store those tired horses! Going upstairs, you will find some twin rooms to rent, and for those with the coin, a few single more "regal" rooms (formally set aside for traveling dignitaries).

Clean: Same mood as the day maps, but I've stripped away any lights, sunlight rays, chimney smoke, etc., so you can set your own effects.

Night: As the darkness of the forest consumes the inn, flickering light from the candles, torches, and roaring hearth can be seen reflected across this aging inn. This is the perfect scene to lull your party to sleep.. where nightmares abound.

Nightmare: As part of the adventure, your players will awaken in a nightmare world where everything they know is a twisted version of itself. I wanted to go with a mix of Lovecraftian horror and Stranger Things. Creeping, fleshy vines, bulbous pustules, and blinking, otherworldly eyes stare at your players as they face down the horrid versions of the staff within.

Gloom: In case you wanted a more ominous feeling, I've created a set of gloomy maps which are perfect for any dark fantasy setting!

As always, for my Champion Tier patrons, you get the following with this release:

  • 4k / 8k resolutions of all maps
  • 1st floor, 2nd floor, roof versions
  • Day / Night
  • Gloom Variant
  • Nightmare Variant
  • Clean Version (No fog, lights, sunlight, chimney smoke, etc)
  • Webp files in both 4k / 8k with a VTT sizing guide

Toward the end of the month, I'll be finishing up the rest of the maps for the newest Lunch Break Heroes adventure. This will include a "nightmare" version of my latest forest map, a series of nightmare islands (puzzles for players to solve in the adventure), the Motakka lair, and of course, the adventure itself. All of this should be together in the next map release.

As we head into April, I'd love to start Saltmarsh proper by mapping out location 1, the Old Gate / Wall. Additionally, I am hoping to make some requested changes to Castle Ravenloft (A cleaned-up throne room, a cleaned-up chapel, etc.) and hope to start work on the V2.0 of the Amber Temple. Of course, I still have the Burgmoaster's Mansion / Garden from the Interactive Tome of Strahd to finish up, and, time permitting, I'm hoping to launch another holiday map for Easter as I did with Valentine's Day. I have some lofty goals coming up, so we'll see how much I can get done in the next month. Either way, I have tons of exciting maps in the workshop for you!

As always, thank you so much for all of your continued support, and I'll catch up with you on Sneak Peek Thursday.

Cheers,

DM Andy

Thank you, Eledryll! And I echo your sentiments and love seeing our map-making community members' skills grow increasingly with each map. It's incredible!

I love the variations on this one--so creative!
