Hi everyone and happy Release Monday!

The original Gulthias Tree map was amongst some of the first maps I did for CoS and I feel my skills have improved since then. I wanted to create a new map as I covered the Gulthias Tree in the Interactive Tome of Strahd Chapter 8 post and wanted to leverage this new style of tree. I kept the IToS version and this version pretty similar so your players can view both the "normal" version and the corrupted version. My goal here was to emphasis on the oozing blood from the tree and give it that full corrupted feel. There was not much description in the CoS book to go by, which is great for me as I get to exercise some creative license :)

This release brings all the Yester Hill maps more aligned with my current style of map making for better consistency.

You'll find plenty of room for a fight on this map as it comes in on a 60x60 grid size. Your players will see the oozing, looming tree rising high above the rest of the equally corrupted foliage as they are beset upon by the various blights that protect the tree. If you are using some of the alternate supplements like DragnaCarta's Strahd Reloaded, this tree will be perfect to siphon blood from the druid leader while putting up quite the fight on its own.

I know a lot of DMs enjoy adding a dungeon under the tree, so I wanted the entrance to this dungeon to look dark and imposing. If you are not using a dungeon, the "mouth" of the tree will still look imposing to any player who dare venture near the skeleton and battle axe wedged into it's bleeding bark.

For my Champion Tier patrons, this map release comes with the following:

  • Grid / Gridless
  • 4k / 8k Resolution
  • Day / Night Versions
  • Rain Version
  • Clean Version (Removed the fog, and red orb lights around the tree)
  • Webp files of both 4k & 8k, resized to fit VTT (along with a sizing guide)

August has been a busy month so far! What I have cooking up in my workshop is a forest road party camp, which is a pretty generic map but something DMs can never have enough of! For the Ravenloft series of maps, I'll be working on the "Road to Ravenloft" which will feature treacherous cliffs as Strahd's black wagon makes it way up the winding mountainous road to his castle. Of course I'll have chapter 9 of the Interactive Tome of Strahd in scope along with the next Lunch Break Heroes adventure! (Includes some neat locations such as a school of anatomy, along with a graveyard / crypt). Stay tuned!

Cheers,

DM Andy

Haha this finished up right after my players finished with Yester Hill, too! I had to show them the new version anyway. It's quite a great update!

DM_Andy

Ahhh no! Sorry you didn't get a chance to use the updated version but I'm very honored you showed it to your players anyway :)
