Hey everyone and happy release Monday! It's finally complete, the last two levels of Argynvostholt!

Wow what a beast of a map this one was :) I am very happy with how it came out, but seems this map was as cursed as the undead revenants that live within its ruined halls. I had a number of technical issues with the map from high lag to crashes. But I was able to overcome those hurdles with one exception; Night Versions of the 8k maps. There is a current bug where it is leaving a giant rectangular artifact in the image when I export at 8k with the night filter on. I've reported this to the Inkarnate team and they assured me they are working on a solution, but for now I won't have night maps in 8k available for the roof maps. I do promise once the issue is resolved, I'll get the night versions updated right away!

This map is going to have a lot of versions due to how many roofs and multi levels of the back tower there are. I mean it's a lot of version so bear with me :)

The versions I created for this are:

  • 3rd floor
  • 4th floor - with interior turrets and 1st floor in the back tower
  • 4th floor - with exterior turrets and 1st floor in the back tower
  • 4th floor - with the 2nd floor of the back tower
  • 4th floor - with the 3rd floor of the back tower
  • 4th floor - with the roof of the back tower
  • 4th floor - with the restored beacon light
  • 4th floor - with the back tower levels on a separate legend

My goal was to create versions to appease everyone's style. I know some prefer to have a clean map with each level while others don't mind the legend with all levels on the same map.

Additionally, I did not create gridded versions for the upper levels of the back tower by themselves and only created gridded versions for the legend variant. I figured anyone using gridded is most likely printing them out and would prefer to have it all on one map. If you need the gridded versions of anything here, please let me know and I'll happily update the file for you!

I know a map of this size and scale / complexity was going to be a challenge, but I hope you'll find a variant that you'll love!

As always, for my Champion Tier patrons, you get the following variants:

  • 3rd / 4th floor maps with all variants as detailed above
  • Day / Night
  • 4k / 8k (See above for notes on night 8k maps)
  • Lit Beacon version
  • Legend Version
  • Webp in both 4k / 8k with Roll20 and Foundry sizing guide
  • Gridded / NoGrid versions (See note above about gridded versions)

Up next I'll be working on some custom content for Pyram King for the swamps of Berez; A bullywug village! I'll also be working on the next chapter of the Interactive Tome of Strahd so stayed tuned for more updates on both!

Cheers,

DM Andy

This is maybe a bit of a more general question, but would you consider doing transparent versions ? I use Levels a lot on foundry to allow players to stay in the same scene and see lower floors through windows and holes. Right now I photoshop erase the blurred lower floors but it takes a ton of time. Love your maps as is but this would be the cherry on the cake

Love Levels! It's such a useful addon and thank you for your great suggestion. Sadly this is one area I get asked for a lot, but the map tool I use primarily is Inkarnate and their terms prohibit me from distributing transparent or .png files or any sort. I'm hoping this is something that gets reviewed as it certainly would be a great asset to provide. I promise you though, if they ever allow this, I will for sure provide roofs and levels as .png files with my releases!

The 8k versions do not seem to have the 4th floor or tower night versions

When I originally exported these maps, for some reason there was a strange artifact left on the 8k night exports. Looks like Inkarnate has fixed the issue and I was able to get the rest of them updated. I had to split up the 8k jpg folders into two parts due to Patreon limits but I also updated the Webp folder as well. These are the NoGrid versions but let me know if you need the gridded versions.
