As you make your way through the Druidwood, the sounds of bones hanging from trees clink together with an eerie breeze howling off the massive, rocky hill looming before you. A raven caws loudly, perched upon a stone menhir, while pecking at a detached eye ball, severed from a creature. As unnatural lighting strikes a ring or boulders at the top of the hill, you spot ferocious, axe-wielding warriors patrolling the various tiers that make up the accent to the top. Shadowed only by stacks of black rock, these burial cairns signify graves of warriors ancient and long dead. You notice strange runic symbols painted on various rockfaces with dried blood while an antlered skull stares at you from hollowed eye sockets. The sounds of drums can be heard echoing from the top of the hill which harmonize with the rolling thunder in the darkened sky above you. The ritual has begun.

For today's release, I bring you the Druid Cairns! Coming in at 60x60, this map will prove to be a massive area for your players to have many encounters as they fight (or sneak) their way up the tiers of the hill leading to the Druid Circle at the top. I also included the some druidic standing stones as a dedication to the Mountain Fane.

I love the idea of ancient druids and warriors who worship the land and will do anything to preserve it, no matter how blighted it has become. Of course, as a big fan of Norse lore, this plays a heavy influence in my game and aesthetics of the druids here.

This map comes with the following variants:

  • Grid / Gridless
  • Day / Night
  • Clean Version (no fog)
  • Night Version with lit candles
  • High Res (8k) version
  • Webp files both in 4k and 8k with a sizing guide for Foundry

Hope you enjoy!

I have a few projects in the works up next which I will sneak peek on Thursday! Stay tuned for more map goodies.

Cheers,

DM Andy
