Hey everyone, and happy New Release Monday! Today, I'm launching my 11th location from the Saltmarsh series: The Hoolwatch Tower. As the first defensive building in Saltmarsh, this 60-foot-tall tower still acts as a bastion of safety and security for the town, allowing the town guard to keep an eye on the surrounding landscape while providing a hub for the guards to gather in times of need.

This map is a great location for your players to collect quests posted on the job board and assist the guard with security matters they don't have the bandwidth for. I'm sure it'll be a wise move to have the guard on your side in Saltmarsh!

I built this map based on a 60-foot-tall stone watchtower with 3 inner levels. Attached to tower is a stone barracks where the guards can rest and act as a garrison. Here the guard captains receives regular reports and plans where to allocate their small force to within the town as they deal with potential security threats.

The tower itself has a 1st floor, 2nd floor, and 3rd floor. Each floor beyond the first is equipped with plenty of weapons and thin windows, providing an advantage for ranged fighting in the event of an attack. On the surrounding hillside are barricades and two ballistas mounted on gear-swivel bases, allowing the guard to reposition these intimidating weapons.

The guard barracks itself has four simple beds allowing the guards on duty here to rest, and they also act as wooden shields to cover up those windows in the event of attack. Stocked with basic rations, the guard captain can maintain a small standing force to be deployed to the various areas of Saltmarsh at a moment's notice!

In addition to the tower levels, I created two exterior versions. One with and one without the background blur. This allows you to use the version without for your players on the ground level and the version with the blur for when they are on the roof to give them a sense of height.

For my Champion Tier patrons, this map release comes with the following:

  • 1st floor, 2nd floor, 3rd floor, and two different exterior versions

  • 6 colors moods: Dark Fairytale, Ghostly, Gloom, Night, Sunny Day & Warm

  • Added weather effects such as rain, fog and sun rays

  • Created a no-lights version for each color mood for use in your preferred VTT

  • Grid & NoGrid

  • 4k & 8k resolution

  • Jpg & Webp files

  • VTT Sizing guide

For the last map of the month, I'll be working on a generic crypt map utilizing some of the newer assets I've been working on with my artist friend. This will be very Elden Rings-inspired and, I hope, will act as a great crypt/dungeon for you to drop into your games as needed.

The crypt will be the last release for April as I start to plan May's work log. I'll be returning to the Village of Barovia by recreating the Church & Graveyard and Bildrath's mercantile, and I hope to start work on Sharkfin Bridge from the Saltmarsh series, which I'm very much looking forward to!

As always, thank you SO much for your continued support and I'll post up the sneak peek for the crypt on Thursday.

Cheers,

DM Andy
