Hey everyone, and happy New Release Monday! In case you missed it, last week I released the Exterior of the Burgomaster's Mansion and today I'm finishing it up with the full interior. This includes the 1st floor, 2nd floor, and wine cellar level.

This was inspired by the thought of the Burgomaster's Mansion from Berez in the CoS module before the catastrophe that befell that town at the hands of Strahd. Additionally, this topic is covered in the hands-on Barovian history of the third-party content The Interactive Tome of Strahd, which can be purchased on the DMsGuild.

I still plan to create the expanse of the garden behind the Burgomaster's Mansion, which I have slated for a future project (both restored and a v2.0 of my older ruined and overgrown garden map).

Manor maps are truly a wonderful thing to have in your DM arsenal. I can't tell you how many times, as a DM, I've needed a map to support an encounter I might have with a local lord or noble. These sprawling manors and their households are enjoyable to experience on the tabletop, in fiction, and even in our own history. With the popularity of shows like Bridgerton and Downtown Abbey or even some of my personal favs like Bly Manor, we get to see how these beautiful buildings are maintained and run.

I tried to create a sense of opulence and even arrogance when creating this map. As this was inspired by the Burgomaster's Mansion in Berez before the town was destroyed, I wanted to add an almost defiant boldness in the face of the Strahd with the very existence of this building. As most of us, CoS DMs know (and spoilers ahead for those who don't!) Burgomaster Lazlo Ulrich killed his adopted daughter, Marina, so that the Devil Strahd would not take her and claim her as his bride. This act of defense was the catalyst that brought Strahd's wrath down on the entire city of Berez, which now lies in a swampy ruin.

Outside of the map inspiration with CoS, I wanted this to act as a generic gothic manner any DM can slate into their campaign world.

The map features two stories and a well-stocked wine cellar. It has enough room to house servants, the lord and lady of the house, and a handful of guests who might be enjoying a stay on the grounds.

I hope you will enjoy each and every detail that I lovingly hand-placed on this map, as well as the new custom assets I've been hiring an artist to create for me (such as the new doors)! They really make the scene pop and adds a new level of depth I've long-described for in my work.

For my Champion Tier Patrons, you will get the following with this release:

  • 1st Floor, 2nd Floor, & Wine Cellar maps

  • 6 Color Moods: Dark Fairytale, Ghostly, Gloom, Night, Sunny Day, & Warm

  • Added weather such as rain, fog, and sun rays

  • A No-Light version so you can set your own lighting in your preferred VTT

  • 8k & 4k Image resolution

  • Grid & NoGrid

  • Jpg & Webp files

  • VTT Sizing Guide

As the rays of sunshine break through the gloom, I will be heading back to Saltmarsh for my next map and finishing up the west half of the town before we cross the Sharkfin Bridge into Saltmarsh proper. The next map on my list will be the Hoolwatch Tower, which will include a three-story tall stone watch tower with a small guard barracks attached to the side. This tower will be standing on a rocky & grassy hill with some fortifications built around it. A great map for your players to meet with the guard captain or even defend the town from raiders!

Additionally, I like to carve out at least one map release monthly to be a more generic use map for DMs to add to their games. I will admit, time permitted, I've been playing a lot of Elden Ring lately and getting hyped about the expansion. So I will close the month out with an Elden Ring inspired crypt map that you can use in your game for all sorts of crypt/dungeon crawl needs!

I'll be sure to post up a sneak peek image of Hoolwatch Tower on Thursday. As always, thank you for your continued support of my maps!

Cheers,

DM Andy

Excellent as usual! I could definitely use this for a decadent noble's estate, living in luxury as his people suffer.

Oh goodness, this is absolutely a needed thing! Thank you! I'll be using this to rep an old manorhouse for the players to check out and build a base in. :-)

That's wonderful! Very happy to hear it'll get some use :) I have more manors planned as well, including the Burgomasters manor from the Village of Barovia along with Wachterhaus and the Vallaki manor so should have lots of new manors to choose from eventually!
