I love The Wicker Man, just because of how freaky everything is and how on edge it makes you feel. I have to say that I prefer the shorter cut though. I think the aditional scenes added in the extended cuts ruin a little of the mystery. Seeing Lord Summerisle outside of the window is not as cool as being introduced to him at his house.

I prefer the directors cut, as it shows Howie being a bit of an outsider on the mainland too.

I enjoyed your reaction Josh, thanks, that was a good way to round off the weekend :) I love this film, it still makes me feel really uneasy throughout, even knowing what happens. The people are all so off putting and everything about it is unsettling. I love the vibe it has. And it's always great to see Christopher Lee. I like how it shows him judging them for their religious beliefs yet the things he believes in are just as illogical. More have died because of the religion he believes in, than they could ever sacrifice in a lifetime on that island. His prayers and pleading are just as useless as them sacrificing a person for more fruit etc. It makes me think how his beliefs are as 'out there' as theirs in a way (he himself just happens to be less murdery lol) it's just that his have become accepted as the norm by some countries whereas theirs aren't in favour nowadays. The idea of dying by fire scares the shit out of me so I find the ending especially disturbing, being burnt to death whilst a bunch of maniacs hang around watching, singing and loving it 😱😅 the shot of The Wicker Man burning in the distance is perfect.

Not that you asked for it...but true sci-fi horror is Love, Death and Robots - Beyond the Aquila Rift (it's on Netflix) 😉

Keith Pratt

The actor who played Rowan Morrison appeared in Only Fools and Horses years later. She played Lisa, the girl who arranged for Del Boy to go hang gliding!

Josh, could you please add The Italian Job (1969) to the next movie poll? It's a classic British heist movie, that has yet to be reacted to by anyone on Youtube. Thank you.

there's no way on this planet I'm ever calling it hang gliding , cant believe its called that xD , for 30 years i thought it was called hand-gliding lmao , I'm going to continue living in my false reality ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

'Midsommar' (2019) is a very good modern horror with very similar themes to this one.

I think 'Alfie' (1966) would make for a much better reaction video. (If we're gonna do a Michael Cain film.) There's an extra layer to the humour today in the way he talks about women, I think!

First time seeing the film, and feeling satisfied seeing some references from other stuff (League of Gentlemen, Hot Fuzz etc) all making sense now haha. My kind of film this - creepy and too surreal to be too predicable, but not frightening as such. Just plain creepy haha.

Josh, had to laugh, when you described it as a slow burn! 😅, I love this film, weird and deeply unsettling.

I had heard about this film for years and watched it for the first time a few years back and wound up turning it off thinking; "How is this a horror film?, how is it so popular? and wouldn't it be hilarious if one of those naked girls leaping over the fire set light to her Tampax string. Caught it on telly a few years later and watched it all - a totally different experience. Without a doubt it is the ending that makes this film, but I can appreciate now why this film is revered so much. I think the constant bursting into song give me the hump the first time and I switched off before Britt started slapping the partitions.
