Great movie... I'm a little concerned about your fast talking at the end though. Did you have too much coffee?

Ed

What the hell happened at the end with your recap of the movie? It went all fast motion and you sounded like a chipmunk lol Great movie and reaction though. Ken is Michael Palin one of the Monty Python guys

Andy Farmer

Alvin and Chipmunks outro hahaaaa! Great reaction loved this movie since it came out! Thanks Josh take care. Also Michael Palin couldn`t get rid of the stutter for ages after making this (fun fact for you)

Gareth Hood

Such a classic, loved it Kevin Kline stole any scenes he was in 😂 Another classic UK film with John Cleese was Clockwise 1986 A Basil Fawlty headmaster https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLgRNIGUU_4

Yes he was great in this 😆 awesome I will add those to my list.

Hey Josh, have you deleted this? There seems to be nothing there to download or view.

darren turner

A very funny film and your Chipmunk voice at the end was an added bonus, I was laughing my head off.

Rob Walters

Nothing there to watch....

David Lyons

Kevin Kline was brilliant, in fact he won an Oscar for his performance! I remember hearing somewhere on the dvd that there was quite a bit of improv on his part. An example of an alternate take from Kevin Kline in response to "You really are a true vulgarian, aren't you?" was "I've never even been to Vulgaria!"

You’ve seen Michael Palin (Ken) in multiple roles in a few films….he’s one of John Cleese’s fellow Monty Python members. Of all the Python side projects I think (along with Fawlty Towers) this is the funniest. And I agree that as great as everybody is in this…Kevin Kline really steals it 😂! Been waiting for this one for a while and glad you enjoyed it so much.

I like Kevin Kline in Bob's Burgers too, as the weirdo millionaire who seems to own half the town and who gets most of his pleasure in life from psychologically torturing his combustible little brother(played equally brilliantly by Zach Galifianakis). Hugely underrated show.

Glad you enjoyed this movie, I don't see how someone didn't find it funny?! The scene when the wife comes home and John Cleese is trying to get it on with Jamie Lee Curtie is very reminiscent of Basil Fawlty trying to hide something from Sybil! There is another movie written by John Cleese called Fierce Creatures which, while not a sequel, it does feature the same main cast. (it's generally thought of as inferior to A Fish Called Wanda, even John Cleese thinks so)

Keith Pratt

The speeded up review at the end was so funny as it was so unexpected! The daughter was played by John Cleese's real life daughter, Cynthia Cleese. Her mother is Connie Booth.

Colin Bayley

I'd vote for Clickwise. Great funny movie.

I love Archie's wife response when Kline says "Don't call me stupid" - "Why on earth not?" So British and understated.

FUN FACT: Originally, Otto died from being run over by the steamroller in an early cut of the film, but test audiences didn't like how dark it was, so they added the scene of him having survived via reshoots. That always seemed a bit daft to me. It's a film where a few dogs and an old lady are murdered through the course of the story's events, so I don't think an awful man like Otto dying would have been a step too far. Another change was that originally, the shot panned down on Wanda sat on the plane with Archie at the end of the film and she was wearing shark shoes. The implication being that she can't be trusted and is a metaphorical shark. The moment they arrive in Rio, Wanda is going to knock Archie out and run away with the prize. Again though, test audiences didn't like that and wanted a sappy happily ever after ending. I think I would have much preferred the original cut.

Thanks bud, it was hilarious I enjoyed it alot. Lol I agree that scene was hilarious 😂 I will add that toy list bud I dont believe anyone has recommended that yet.

I think I might've seen this back when I was seven or eight, with my dad who was and is a huge John Cleese fan. I remember he didn't like it and didn't laugh very much. So I was surprised at how funny it was watching it here. A minor thing is that I still think that the comic acting from the two American actors jars with the comic acting from the English actors...they're so different. The Americans go for a screwball type of comedy which is predicated on how slick and quick-witted and cool they are, while the English actors' comedy is predicated on them being the absolute opposite - clumsy, useless, deeply unsexy. The contrast is obviously part of the point, the differences between the two nations are brought up throughout, but still the two styles don't quite mix well to me. It's like Bon Jovi covering Slade, it just feels off. And Kevin Kline is an acquired taste as a comic actor. Still, I thought it was entertaining and funny throughout. Fun seeing Stephen Fry hotfooting it to the airport...as is his wont ;)

I think You would LOVE 'Clockwise' which also has John Cleese in, a very funny movie from the 80's, worth having a look if you haven't already.

The last gag before the end credits, about Otto emigrating to South Africa and becoming their new justice minister, would have been a topical joke in 1988 as South Africa was still under apartheid rule. It's possible they were specifically mocking Jimmy Kruger, a former justice minister who'd died a year earlier and was particularly obnoxious even by the standards of the apartheid regime, but obviously the general thrust of the joke is that as a psychopath with a superiority complex, Otto would fit right in to the South African government of the time.

Manly Stump

Can't believe you watched a John Cleese film and couldn't work out where you recognised Michael Palin from! XD
