Glad you're enjoying this series so far. It's my favorite! In this series, each episode is a sort of self-contained story revolving around one of the main characters, with a few extra sketches from other old and new faces thrown in and some clever elements tying things together. So if you're wondering where the other locals have disappeared to, that pretty much sums it up. You'll see them soon :-)

^ Usually I'd say this is a spoiler, but knowing this actually helped my enjoyment of the series first time around.

Fantastic reaction, Josh! :-) I have never found it more difficult to resist the urge to spoil as I have with the third season of The League of Gentlemen. All I will say is that it is very DELIBERATELY different, and that it will all make a lot more sense once you've seen all 6 episodes from the season. To be honest, you'll see what they're doing by episode 2 and 3, but the absolute GENIUS of it all won't necessarily be evident until you get to the end of episode 6. I do agree that the tone has shifted. It's not quite the case for me that it's "less weird" but it's structurally very different, feels more like a dramatic, comedic thriller with typical scene after scene as opposed to a sketch show. It was always a very sophisticated and elevated sketch based show even in that format, but the stylistic shift is still noticeable. I think they felt they'd done all they could do in that format and as I say went for something different rather deliberately. This series isn't about trying to weird the audience out because they'd done all of that before. Even the way they've remixed the theme music is indicative - it's gone from eerie, dark comedy theme tune to a much more percussive, jaunty, dramatic style. Accordingly, this series is more about taking certain characters and giving them more flesh, and the true focus is on STORY. You will see. Trust me. :-) They never felt they went too far with any joke but the one scene they all regret is that one where Ross is giving Pauline.....erm.....well.....attention. :p It was apparently much funnier on paper but they all felt it was actually just awful when it made it into the episode. I do see where they're coming from......erm.....if you'll pardon the expression.... :p.... and I also think it's more "ugh!" than "haha, so funny!", but I've seen this episode so many times now I have become a bit desensitised to it I suppose! Haha!

Is the scene with Pauline and Mickey not the sexiest love-scene ever?! lol (you've got a male actor playing a female character dressed up as a man, and a male actor playing a male character but dressed up as a woman!)

@ Jack Morgan. Hey there little mouse! I'll see you again next Saturday. I know who you are, but I'm too embarrassed to admit it.

There is a very different feel to the last series. All episodes slot together very well by the end. I always felt this series was more like a comedy drama that out and out dark comedy like the first two seasons.

Andy Farmer

"HMP Clitclink" 🤣

Rob Walters

When I first saw that sign on the prison wall I pissed myself!!!

AfterWorkReactions

Thanks bud glad you enjoyed it, this episode was so goofy 🤣 I do see it's different than previous episodes but still very funny.

When Tubbs and Edward got hit by the train and you wiped your eye were you shedding a tear for them? Lol I read somewhere that they based the flat where Ross and Pauline "negotiate" on Partick Batemans from American Psycho

Tony Smyth

I thought there was only 2 series of LOG, and a Christmas Special, and a Live At Drury Lane. A third series is like having ALL your Hallowe'ens come at once.

Anybody out there who loves this style of comedy... here's a tip. The French Dispatch (Wes Anderson) is playing in theaters (theatres) and available on PB as we speak. Catch it in the cinema. It's worth it. You can thank me later. Don't miss it, whatever you do.

BelladonnicHazeyJaneII

Really loved this different style. Somehow I only caught bits of series 3 before so I'm really looking forward to this series. Good start. The Lesbian and the Monkey is a great title lol.

Steve King

There were also 3 ne episodes released for the anniversary made in 2017

Tony Smyth

I'm with you BHJ, 420%+ I watched 2 series of League Of Gentlemen on DVD, unaware of a series 3. I couldn't be more happier to have found another series. And I found it HERE. I love this site.

After TLOG you should put Psychoville on the poll, Its basically the same show, same actors, but different characters
