Lucozade is an energy drink. If Victor wanted to watch Prisoner: Cell Block H, he missed it. That was the ending theme!

One foot in the grave was pretty good but bit dated now....I really can't believe we're watching this before Still Game tho. Probs not got as big an audience being Scottish. Not sure anyone in England or America has a clue what they're saying....and I'm an Englishman in Scotland so i should know haha. Anyway. One day fingers crossed because josh is probably gonna stop breathing 😆

Keith Pratt

Linford Christie is a former sprinter, the best one the UK ever had. He won Olympic gold in the 100 metres in 1992.

Max Branning as one of the boys at the end 😆

Not sure if you noticed but the actor playing the main plumber is Christopher Ryan who played Dave Hedgehog in Bottom and Tony Driscoll in Only Fools & Horses.

Always loved this episode..poor old Mrs Burkett....😂. It's the banging as it gets slower and slower. Cracks me up🤣

Keith Pratt

There were 2 other actors who appeared in OF&H that were in this episode as well. I don't know their names off hand, but one was Dirty Barry who owned the sex shop and the other was Rodney's assistant when he worked for Alan, "Excuse me sir? All that data that was on your screen, it's on my one now".

Gary Tamblyn

It is a bit dated, comedy does move on over time, but it’s not all bad. Don’t really understand your last comment, sure it was supposed to be a joke, but don’t get it.

CatsandCrafts

The plumber dressed like Steve Irwin, is the actor who plays Dave Hedgehog in Bottom. His huge bouffant hair in this episode hides his face a lot, but he makes a repeat appearance in episodes in another series, where it’s obvious who he is.x

I hate littering. Same with my front garden...so much rubbish. The streets are filthy here.

Ryan Lynch

I'm still so happy you are reacting to this. Folks, I don't watch Emmerdale (or Emmerdale Farm as previously called, and they watch) but does that "fatter" neighbour appear in it, or just look like someone in it?

Ryan Lynch

And was the yob near the end Mark Speight?

Keith Pratt

It's one of my pet hates. Some people are so inconsiderate and lazy.

THEORY TIME: In regards to the mysterious smell by the skirting board; is it simply David Renwick (the creator and writer for the series) making a playful comment on those strange things which bother us in our homes and never get resolved? Or perhaps (and this is something of a stretch and possibly overthinking things) is the phantom smell connected to the stress levels of the people who smell it? In other words, is it a psychosomatic smell? Note that all of the local residents are stressed about the crime in the area and smell the stench but the moment Margaret feels overjoyed and relieved to have Victor's coat returned to him via the criminals being busted by the police, she suddenly stops smelling the foul odor. However, it's when Victor realises that he's just accidentally committed armed robbery that his stress levels peak and now he is the one who can smell the phantom stench. Food for thought... Then again, maybe it is just a dead rat.

While Lucozade is still a fairly well known brand today (although it has been massively overshadowed by Red Bull & Monster), it was pretty much THE energy drink of the 80s and 90s in the UK. It even had massive cross-promotional commercials, like this one with Lara Croft! https://youtu.be/KbtNHRu3z_w And yes, the original variety is bright yellow, not unlike the colour of piss.

Tony Smyth

My father was a long-distance truck driver. He warned me to never drink any bottle of Lucozade I found on the roadside. He was right. Listen to your parents. - DON'T do what I did.

Three only fools and horses actors appear in this one 😂

Another terrific episode and fantastic reaction, Josh! :-) This is the first episode I think that really ups the ante in terms of plot points and payoff. You have Victor being mugged and the punchline at the end where he mistakes two boys who are actually trying to help him as muggers / The stray cat seen beforehand and then it winds up in the Meldrews' freezer (golden scene! So funny!) / The starter pistol which aids Victor in his "daylight robbery" / The central heating playing up and clanging and Mrs Firkett ending up in the attic, completely to Victor's oblivion..... just so meticulously pieced together, a comic puzzle and a sign of what's to come certainly - David Renwick is a wonderfully clever writer when it comes to plot. That the dialogue and visual humour is also on point is what elevates this sitcom to top tier status for me. It's just brilliantly done! I recognised Jake Wood as the actor who plays Rodney's assistant in The Jolly Boys' Outing ("All that data you had on your screen? Well, it's on my one now!" followed by Rodney saving face by exclaiming, "Well, of course it is! These kids! Don't know they're born!" and Alan looking bewildered! :-D). Someone's already mentioned it but yes, absolutely, the theme tune to Prisoner: Cell Block H signified that the programme had ended as it always opened with silent credits and slamming prison gates as I faintly recall! Haha! I want to take this opportunity to praise Annette Crosbie. Richard Wilson is an absolute legend and I will sing his praises repeatedly as we continue to watch this but I don't think Annette Crosbie as Margaret gets anywhere near enough credit. She's a superb actress and I adore the way she plays the long-suffering Margaret. As with everything else in the series, she just gets better and better and I absolutely love how David writes her.

Daryl

This was too much 🤣 I've not watched this show in so many years, I'd actually forgotten how good it was. Admittedly I wasn't sure why it kept getting so many votes but still I was always keen to revisit if it came out on top. Thanks to all who helped this fill the OFAH slot. Right now I can think of no better candidate. A nice touch that they were hosting the neighbourhood watch meeting in the same week they were committing all those crimes. 😂

"Someone's already mentioned it but yes, absolutely, the theme tune to Prisoner: Cell Block H signified that the programme had ended as it always opened with silent credits and slamming prison gates as I faintly recall!" To be fair, it could have been a double bill and Victor was planning on watching the second episode after the adverts.

LyingSecret

Lucozade (the free sample bottle in this episode) is an energy drink that looks a bit like fizzy piss, but kind of orange, so maybe an unhealthy fizzy piss. Linford Christie was a very famous runner here in the 90's.

It's one of the things I like about one foot in the grave - Victor always ends up in situations where he looks like a maniac, pervert or serial killer to other people, but we know there's a rational explanation behind it 😁

Relyx

Holy crap it's Dave Hedgehog! Also Josh, if you ever saw the music video for Eurythmics - There Must Be An Angel, you would see Spudgun as a Curly Blonde Wig-ed Singing Cherub. It's pretty hilarious!

Relyx

I think you are thinking of Jake Wood, aka Max Branning from Eastenders!
