For me it's watchable without being great. I don't think Bottom works as a dark comedy. I would have preferred something lighter with plenty of the usual crazy violence. I'm still hoping you'll get to watch the live shows eventually!

Baffles me how people went into a Bottom movie and expected a Oscar winner. Yeah the plot is mainly bad but it’s clearly on purpose. It’s all part of how Bottom is. It’s a excuse for violence, dick and fart jokes. The bottom live shows have ridiculous plots but that’s precisely what makes them hilarious. I’d recommend you get round to all of them and don’t leave any out. The people who tell you to leave certain shows out are the same people who told you to avoid the movie.

Sometimes it's difficult to make a format that is designed for 30 minutes to work for 90. I find a lot of film adaptions of TV shows fall a bit flat as a result. Still, it's an okay film with good moments and it's great to see these two again.

That's how I see it. It's great for a laugh at all the ridiculousness. I enjoy all of the live shows as well to be honest. Don't know why some would prefer him to miss any of them out - even if they don't like certain ones, Josh might think those ones are great.

It barely gets any votes in the new series polls, the people voting now have much different tastes in comedy to the people who was originally voting for shows like Fawlty Towers, Bottom etc

This movie was made after Rik Mayalls quad bike accident so Adrian Edmondson pretty much had to write the script himself which is why thismovie feels off, it didn't have both of their input.

after this reaction i'm really hopeful you will react to the young ones one day...if only to see rick and ades extreme violence to each other in another setting. and the style of the young ones is definitely "looney tunes" lol

Glad you enjoyed it Josh and your reaction to the nut cracking scene was hilarious 😂 Seeing as you asked for our opinions at the end, I'd say I really like the film but it could have been even better. I watched it when I was younger with my brother (we both grew up watching and loving Bottom) when it first came out and was a bit disappointed. Then a few years later I liked it more. This 3rd time watching along with you was definitely the best lol. I can see why it's not everyone's cup of tea though. And Rik Mayall is always fantastic, I'd watch pretty much anything with him in it. He's just one of those few people who can me laugh with a slight facial expression or tone of voice. Overall I think it's a fun film if you already love Bottom and enjoy the ridiculous scenarios they end up in. I can't wait till you watch the live shows though, I definitely like them more than the film. I do hope The Young Ones gets voted in at some point, it's mental and I'd love to see what you make of it.

I remember when this came out on video, think I must have been about 10. And all the other kids in my class couldn't stop talking about it, specifically the vomit scene, and saying how it was the funniest film ever. I never got to see it and felt like I was missing out, then finally saw it about 3 year ago. I'm sure I'd of loved it if I saw it at 10. I enjoyed it more watching it with you reacting to it than I did when I first saw it

Glad you ignored the messages Josh and made your own opinion of this film. I liked it as well, maybe it stretched a few scenes out a bit longer than necessary, but this is Rik and Ade, chaos is what makes it funny.

loved bottom, its over the top a lot of the time but it just worked, This film however, I just couldn't sit through it, the cringe made it too hard. The film ignores the series completely as they have 2 different lives and no connection to each other. That said i found the writing for this very poor
