Dude when Del fell I cracked up, that was hilarious .This was a great episode all around and I really enjoyed it . Great start to season 6 !!!

Thanks for watching folks !!! Hopefully, you all are happy, safe, and healthy !!

I’d say del falling through the bar is the most iconic moment in OFAH history, even more than the chandelier episode.

Daniel Davies

Del’s fall through the bar is seen as not just the funniest moment in ‘OFaH’, but the funniest moment in British comedy.

This is the start to a very strong season which includes some of the best episodes of the show. The Jolly Boys outing is often referred to as the best episode and is David Jason’s (Del) personal favourite.

A shame they had to cut so much of the scene in the club. Music rights I suppose.

Teddy Alison

Trigger is such a genius character and Roger Lloyd Pack was an outstanding actor. Never distracted from his role. And the falling through Bar scene is an Only fools classic, cracks me up every time!

Keith Pratt

Josh, the scene with Rodney, Mickey & Jevon in the nightclub is heavily edited due to music copyright. This is the scene in full: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGTw-ObUh_E

Last episode onwards is where I first remember this show as a kid.

Great episode and reaction Josh. I would advise you to use Apple for episodes if you can for the below, reasons. Is no one going to mention the dumb cut and edit in the nightclub, there's a whole conversation missing when Rodders talks to Cassy, it only has the hello part then some nonsense stupid fade of music and the scenes missing. The starts also missing where the boys are but it starts with jevron mid conversation! Then mickey talking about rodders offering Cassy half the bet winnings, why that's cut I don't know! So annoying. Honestly I hate that these episodes are missing important scenes. This episode should be just over 50 minutes long. I'm sure apple payed the rights and its uncut there unlike every other streaming service. Glad I have pretty much the most uncut whole series of only fools.

The reason the women at the wine bar laugh at Del ordering the Beaujolais noveau ‘79 is that it’s a wine that’s supposed to be drunk straight away (hence the French for ‘new’), or rather it doesn’t improve with age Of course Del doesn’t know this and is just trying to blag as usual. It’s like the first Christmas episode where he recounts talking to the shop owner “don’t try and palm me off with your table wine, get down to that cellar and get me a bottle of “vin ordinaire”, ‘ordinary wine’ - it is table wine

any chance you can add Plebs to the poll Josh ?

Love seeing someone’s first reaction to the bar scene, an iconic moment

Charlie

It's funny to think that an actor who is best known for playing a buffoon was a classically trained stage actor who attended RADA.

Keith Pratt

It makes a change to see someone react to Del falling through the bar with no idea it's about to happen. There are a few reactions to it on YouTube, but they already know it's gonna happen as the video is titled "Del Boy Falls Through The Bar". Same with the Chandelier scene, it's titled "Del and Rodney Smash the Chandelier".

Sam Dilks

Isn’t it funny how 32 years ago (when this episode first aired) Rodney was “poncing about on his computer” and was mocked for it, now there is no job without some form of computer, even schools are done by computer. Also isn’t it mad how Cassandra had to stay in all night to see if Rodney would phone her back, because there’s mobile phones obviously so had to rely on him getting the filofax and wanting to ring her? I wonder what mad shit we’re all doing today that will be seen as weird and ancient in 32 years time, 2043?

Devyn Hall

I've always loved that Del and Rodney torture each other, one gives the other sunburn on a tanning bed, the other plays a hang-gliding prank, but when Mickey makes fun of Del's coat Rodney stands up for him, and when Del had his heart broken in the last episode, Rodney stood by him and tried to make it work out!

The store Del said he brought shares in was Harrods, an upperclass expensive shop. So when he asked her how to spell it and she started with A she was mocking his cockney pronounciation "Arrods".

Think it’s fair to say that most of us were waiting for the falling through the bar scene...it frequently gets voted the funniest moment in British sitcom history and is usually somewhere near the top! This is another example of how the show moved with the times...yuppies were everywhere in the late 80s and it’s not surprising someone like Del would attempt to follow the trend. They always had a Filofax and often had these new fangled things called mobile phones! These next 2 seasons and the specials in between and after are golden....but we won’t spoil it for you Josh 🙂.

Love this episode, excited that we’re onto the creme de la creme of OFAH, a lot of good episodes to come but i would say “The Jolly Boys Outing” is by far my favourite episode of all time! Love it

(Just) Steve

The next episode is one of my faves!

Joe S

To be honest I can’t think of a single weak episode from now on! Glad you liked this one

BelladonnicHazeyJaneII

Loved your reaction to the bar scene 😁 I saw people recommending it after you watched the Batman and Robin scene on you tube ages ago and I'm so glad you didn't watch it then! So much better in the context of the whole show when it's totally unexpected. The fall itself is so great but Trigger's reaction is brilliant. Enjoyed this so much. Roll on next Friday! :) Btw when Del said their dad didn't work because he suffered from a sticky matress he meant that he was too idle to get out of bed to go to work.

David Lyons

Making red wine spritzers (or 'spitzers' as Del puts it) with expensive wine doesn't do him any favours either!

David Lyons

Texas DIY stores! Wow, that's a throwback, I'd forgotten all about them!

Keith Pratt

"You've always been the same, even at school. Nothing but books, learning, education - that's why you're no good at snooker." I've always assumed this was a reference to snooker player Jimmy White who was the most popular player at the time this aired. He couldn't read or write when he was younger, because he used to bunk off school from an early age to play snooker.

Sticky Mattress means his dad never got out of bed to go to work mate

I cancelled my subscription on Wednesday because I lost my job to covid and I cant really afford luxuries... it lasted nearly 5 hours and here we are, 1.56am and I've paid, and ready to watch hahaha!

I had this season on VHS in a big tin union jack box, wonderful season, probably my favourite

Gary Tamblyn

The next episode, Danger UXD, has a brilliant scene in it that I know you’ll love. None of this season is going to be as packed as last week’s episode “Dates” as that was a Christmas special, so would have had a much bigger budget.

Sorry one last comment, not sure if it's been said before, bit the actor who plays Trigger, wasn't originally intended to be on set that day, he was filming next door and just decided to come along that day. And most of his scene there was just him freestyling it, especially the part where Del actually falls and Trig just does a full 360 looking for him, subtle genius

All episodes from '88-'91 are the best

BelladonnicHazeyJaneII

Well of course, Josh's patreon comes under 'necessities' not 'luxuries' surely ;) Sorry about your job though :/

Gary Tamblyn

Even the BBC, at the time, had to be told by the writer / producer not to show these punchline scenes in trailers as it, of course, ruins the element of surprise. I don’t really get the reaction videos, where they only show these parts. Not only are they spoiling the best parts of these episodes for themselves and everyone else, they are seeing the clip out of context.

AfterWorkReactions

LOL it was great I loved it. That was a while ago but yes I am happy I didn't watch it everything is so much funnier with all the context leading up to it. Ok lol thanks for the info =]

Josip Buretic

Epic episode!! and like always I enjoyed so much in your reaction my friend!! And your laugh is just lovely jubbly 🤣

Trigger wasn’t originally scripted to be in the bar fall scene but Roger Lloyd Pack (Trigger) was working on another show on the next set and stopped by to say hello. They decided as he was there to write him into the scene.

Let’s do this 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 after this, will check your reaction to Derek 👍🏼👍🏼
