Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!    Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!!

This was such a fun movie , Rowan Atkinson was hilarious through out. English is such a great character because he is so close to being a good spy . If English was a character in a game his stats would skew heavily in specific categories while the others are extremely low if that makes sense lol .  He seems to have good hand to hand combat skills , great driving skills , confidence in his ability is through the roof , he comes up with creative plans but executes them poorly because his confidence in his own ability is so high . Bough does a good job bringing those low stats up a bit lol. If you have never played a game that involves stats like intelligence , perception , creativity , charisma , confidence, stamina , strength etc. I apologize lol my bad. While watching this I had so much fun not just because this movie was funny and silly , I was thinking this dude is so close to being a good agent as well .This was a good movie I covered most of what I wanted to say at the end . Hopefully you all are having a great Sunday !!! . I put an example stat sheet below for those who are curious and thinking what's this dork talking about lol .

Thanks for watching folks !!! Hopefully, you all are happy, safe, and healthy !!

Saul

He's a pretty bad special agent. But my favourite bad special agent is an MI5 agent called Michael Bettaney, who was once arrested for being drunk and disorderly and yelled 'you can't arrest me, I'm a spy' at the officer in charge.

Kieran B

Completely random but this reminded me, one video that would be great for YouTube: Big Train Police Sketch Artist

Kieran B

He’s kind of like Flashman, or his 40k equivalent Ciaphas Cain, things ultimately work out despite his failed attempts (although Flashman and Cain were more like Blackadder trying to avoid anything too dangerous)

Daryl

I remember watching the Barclaycard adverts going up. Which this character and sidekick is based on. Although he changed the name for this film I believe.

Jay

Not sure how this film got voted above the far funnier Naked Gun. It's moderately amusing, but seriously lightweight. I saw this in the cinema when it first came out, and was hoping a rewatch would change my older less snobbish opinion, but it still feels a bit weak. I guess I'm just old and miserable.

Jack Veazey

Love this film, there's two others as well, which in my opinion are better - Especially the latest one that came out a few years ago

It’s a fun and enjoyable movie, not at all to be taken seriously but easy watching with plenty of funny moments. The Soundtrack is great too.

Samuel Coghlan-White

There are scenes during the credits but they're not essential

The Queen can’t seize land as described in the film. In theory, she can declare war or peace – part of the royal prerogative – but in practice these decisions are delegated to Parliament. But the land seizure thing can’t happen even in theory.

Anonymous

I'm not sure of the extent of the queens powers but I know she has the power to declare war it's just one of those old silly laws that have never been changed as it said in the movie she would never attempt to do it, I doubt anybody would comply and the law would be changed immediately to take that power away from her and that would pretty much be the end of the monarchy. You can find many examples of out of date laws in every country that nobody takes seriously, for example in York(which is a place in England) it is perfectly legal to kill a Scotsman with a bow and arrow.

Jonathan Giles

Love this film lol. Hopefully you react to the second and third too. Thanks

Gary Tamblyn

It’s sort of a weak Pink Panther film plot, without the comedy genius of Peter Sellers to pull it through. It was ok. You’d come out of the cinema, not feeling ripped off, but also not feeling much different than when you went in.

Anonymous

Yes actually strangely the Queen does have all of those powers she has quite a lot of power she just doesn't use it.

Gary Tamblyn

In theory the Queen could seize any land in the UK that she wanted, but it wouldn’t happen. Aside from I don’t believe they are that ruthless. Their very survival as Royalty relies too much on popularity and good press, as recent events have shown. It’s a bit like, the President despite being theoretically the “most powerful person in the world”, can still be impeached by people more powerful.

Sam Reeves

Definitely a fun movie, the second one is good as well. But they're really more for a family audience. Would love to see you check out a movie called The Parole Officer!

They were the best adverts on TV in the 80's. Josh should check a few out, i only remembered the adverts existed when I heard "Boff" in the movie.

Danny

Never understood how people like this movie so much but don't like Mr Bean. It may as well be a Mr Bean spy movie! He has all his mannerisms, facials and goofiness that he uses as Mr Bean.

Great, now I'll be singing the theme tune for the rest of the day!

Adam C Turek

Was surprised this got so many votes, it's not a bad film but not too memorable either, that's democracy for ya. The Speed camera/missile joke i've noticed a few films afterward tried to copy.

Anonymous

If you tried to kill a Scotsman in York, you would be arrested, tried, and convicted for murder. So it’s not legal. What you mean is that there are obsolete statutes in every jurisdiction. But the obsolescence of such statutes means they are not law.

Saul

Just made me think how much better 'Spy', with Melissa McCarthy, is. It's essentially the same plot with genders reversed and it's hilarious and underrated. It also has Jason Statham in it, being genuinely funny(although I'm not convinced he knew it was a comedy). I'd love it if it appeared in the polls.

Anonymous

Fun fact, the Aston Martin he drives in this is Rowan Atkinsons own car, he bought it 6 months before filming.

Darren Swinbank

Think you missed the after credit scene

AfterWorkReactions

True man, it's a fun movie. That is all I can ask for lol

Mick Mills

I like Rowan Atkinson but could never really get into this one. Would love to see "A fish called Wanda" on next poll, there is a kind of sequel to that called "Fierce creatures". A couple of the Monty Python guys (Cleese and Palin) in both. Very good British comedies.

Dean

Re - Your points regarding The Queen's power. The film does indeed wildly exaggerate her powers. Whether we choose to include former UK territories under the British Empire/Commonwealth or not, The Queen could not choose to simply re-take them. Going to the absolute extreme, that would mean she could technically take control of the USA. The role of the monarchy is mostly ceremonial now with most powers now in the hands of Parliament (to some extent). The Queen is still required to formally approve laws, constitutional changes and military action, but she couldn't really refuse to sign them. The British monarchy is essentially an outdated relic kept on artificial life support to support the crumbling integrity of the British state and cash in on some juicy headlines from time to time.

Thanks for the info bud! I don't know too much about your government besides what I have heard in shows so that was very helpful.
