Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!    Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!!

Watching this episode made me think maybe Dawn and Tim won't get together. I know Dawn and Lee are coming back but I'm still skeptical. Especially listening to Lee making fun of Tim asking her out multiple times. Yeah, she asked him to shut up, but Dawn is just a nice person doesn't mean she is still interested. Her saying she didn't want to say anything about Tim because she doesn't want to hurt his feelings etc. I just don't know if it's going to happen. This show is a lot more grounded in reality and the reality is lots of people are afraid of taking the risk of ending a comfortable long-term relationship. Watching everything leading up to the final episode of season 2 and this episode, I was positive they would get together but now I am not so sure. I hope it happens we will see for sure next week.

I wasn't expecting it but I was hoping Brent grew a bit more as a person. Watching him was just as cringe-worthy as the rest of the series. Especially when he was on the dating stage and started doing an Austin Powers impersonation. I was like dude why lol. I was thinking maybe it's because he wasn't told what to do the last time he was on stage except say hi. So this time he went all-in with the Austin Powers git up to stand out and be remembered, or it could just be Brent being Brent lol. I really hope Brent gets a date to the Christmas party and has some kind of happy ending. Maybe a partner is what he needs to help balance him out ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. You never know.

Thanks for watching folks !!! Hopefully, you all are happy, safe, and healthy !!

You should finish by watching Life on the Road, the David Brent follow up film from 2016

Been looking forward to the Office Christmas specials, to Hull and back on Saturday too!

Anonymous

Imo these specials are the best bit of comedy ever written. Can’t wait to see you reaction to them

Kieran B

Looked like you were close to recognising David’s agent - he was Piet Morant from Dante’s Fires in Alan Partridge - who had the meeting at Alan’s door table £42,000 would be about $60,000 - closer to something like $77,000 when this went out. Ah those were the days...

Kieran B

Not seen this in years, just realised Ashley Jensen who plays Maggie in Extras is one of the interviewers behind the camera

Anonymous

Would never have noticed that. She sounds really different to me.

Anonymous

Ooh this first part of the special is always painful to watch😒 ....can't wait for next week!! 🤐

Anonymous

Just a suggestion for after you have finished the series Josh there is a compilation of deleted scenes which you might want to do for youtube there are some really funny ones on it.

Anonymous

Are you watching the movie on the Thursday after part 2?

mwdoom

Correct... at last... :) he's also the accountant on life's too short (which I hope you watch Josh at some point its amazing)

Danny

As a bit of trivia, Ricky Gervais can't drive a car so the scenes with Brent driving was actually Ricky in a car on the back of a trailer driving along instead haha. He said he doesn't see the point in driving when he can pay people to drive for him

Toby Lewis

🤮🤮 completely ruins the Brent character and has the worst storyline ever

Super Mega Giga Chad

This part just sets everything up for part 2 to knock em down in the greatest finale to a series ever - don’t wanna hype it too much but it’s true

You probably have heard the song he covered before. Its If You Don't Know Me By Now - Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes

I remember watching The Office when it first came out and could barely watch it as it was so cringe, but loved it at the same time. In my eyes it paved the way for a lot of the TV shows we see today

BelladonnicHazeyJaneII

Jesus that was painful lol. Your face when he starts saying the shagadelic baby part 😂

Anonymous

This was a nice surprise, completely forgot this was getting uploaded today. Can’t wait until next Thursday now for the finale 👍

SynphamyMusic

I'd totally recommend the David Brent movie if you want a bit more of him at the end. It got a mixed reception but i thought it was a fitting ending to his character.

Mick Mills

Ahh really great to have an excuse to watch this again. Thanks bud.

W Martin

I've noticed that the documentary lady sounds spits of Maggie from extras. She's documenting on David being a performer. Possible connection to extras. This already may be a known thing btw

A bit out of season now but the show that David referenced at one point in the episode (Noels Christmas Presents) would have been a fantastic show to react to during the Christmas season. Each episode was aired Christmas mornings every year for about a decade which featured TV host Noel Edmonds doing charitable acts for sick or misfortuned people (delivering gifts to kids in hospitals/surprise christmas parties for the elderly, that sort of thing) some of the surprises he pulled off were broadcast live too- was so nice to see the people featured particularly the children getting their Christmas surprise actually on Christmas morning. Like I said it was a staple of Christmas tv viewing in the UK every year for almost a decade if I remember right, made for some really heartwarming viewing-would have loved to see your take on any episode in particular, you’d have to be made of stone not to shed a tear or two at some parts.

Super Mega Giga Chad

I like how you said you are not expecting a happy ending because they are more like normal people then comedic characters..i know you are talking about Tim and Dawn specifically but it got me thinking that .. .that’s what I love about all these shows, the main character is never the “hero” or "villain" It’s much more real and reflects real life where people are complicated and flawed. I think I like whatever the show is much more when the main character is morally unlikeable ... like Brent, Basil Fawlty or Blackadder, Alan partridge, Mark and Jez. They become, to me, more interesting and funny. Same could be said about Kenny Powers for the American East bound and down series. Also with this ep,... There is something unique and funny about Gareth and Brent just in a room together - like when they are doing the internet dating. They are so weird and hilarious together.

Oh yeah, just a little connection here, too. On the Bottom Xmas special, when Ritchie doesn't let Eddie put the TV on until the Queen's speech, and Eddie says "but it's Noel's Christmas family accidents!" he's talking about Noel Edmonds. I also can't stand Noel Edmonds. What an absolute turnip that guy is. I'm sure Partridge references him a few times, too. Basically, Noel Edmonds was absolutely ubiquitous in the late 80's and early 90's. His career took this huge dip in the 2000's before sky-rocketing again when his stupid game show, Deal or No Deal, appeared on TV in about 2008. OOHH Josh, watch the "Cake" bit on Brass Eye! That's got Noel Edmonds on it, getting stitched up like a fucking kipper, amongst other bland TV personalities. It's a mock public safety warning about a fictional drug, from the Drugs episode.

IF YOU DON'T KNOW MEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHH!!

Anonymous

I have only every heard the simply red version I didn't know they hadn't originally wrote that

Austin Stratton

Trying to remember which episode of Only Fools To Hull And Back is tonight.. If anyone knows, without giving spoilers, if I say Holland am I on the right lines?

Anonymous

Love the conversation’s with Gareth on this one. You can see he’s a lot more smug, confident and doesn’t idolise David anymore since taking his job. When they are doing the dating website is hilarious.....’squashhh’ gets me every time

Spooony

I honestly wouldn't to be honest. Life of the Road is an ok standalone, but as a continuation of The Office it just falls very flat. It's also without the involvement of Steve, and I think it shows.

Isaac Steele

no only fools tnite?

No income tax, no VAT, no money back, no guarantee, black or white, rich or poor.... Josh' not streaming season 4...... Carpets, hooky street, viva hooky street, long live hooky street, say 'magnifique', hooky street.....

Steve King

Hope Josh (and Tay) are OK?!?!?!?!

AfterWorkReactions

Thanks man, the show is realistic to people I know and it just seems like it would be fitting for a more realistic ending.

Interestingly Gervais actually tried to become a pop star in the 90s
