Spoiler Free: This was a good episode although Richie is always an annoying, hyper, and a pest he seemed to really lay it on thick in this episode lol. He reminds me of how hyper and annoying my little brother always was.

Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!    Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!

I looked up Ester Ranston so no need to explain the joke anymore lol. Also, I looked up the term sp** and UK and it seems to mean the same thing so no need to answer that question. I would hate for the comment section to turn all political lol. Though I prefer to get my answers from you all. I decided I should just satisfy this curiosity with a google search lol.

Thanks for watching folks !!! Hopefully, you all are happy, safe, and healthy !!

As always I would love to read your comments below.

Before I watch the video can I just say that I love your t-shirt so much that I feel jealous?

Steve Small

Rumbalows used to be a TV rental place.

BelladonnicHazeyJaneII

Your t shirt!! 🙆‍♀️ I love it 😍 best one yet :)

Steve Small

Esther Rantzen was a UK talk show host in the 80s and 90s, who had a massive set of teeth... I mean huge 😂

Esther Rantzen (the name of the drink) was a British tv presenter known predominantly for a magazine style tv show called That’s Life that ran for 20 years or so. Her appearance was renowned for the fact that she exposed all of her teeth and gums when smiling. This was particularly emphasised on a satirical tv show involving puppets, called Spitting Image. Spic is indeed the same derogatory term.

Tony Smyth

I'm not entirely sure but I think that word means Italian or maybe Spanish, or maybe both on this side of the Atlantic. It's not really used as a derogatory. term, I think. At least not here in Ireland. It might offend some people. I don't know. I'm just a thick Paddy and I'm drunk. I'm not starting a fight. You are. Are you calling me a liar?

Adam C Turek

they generally don't repeat this show anymore on television, there was one "journalist" that tried to cancel the show recently because of the first episode with the Lesbians and the line Ritchie says, "Come back to my place, and I'll CURE you!" - but they failed as they clearly didn't understand comedy or the characters. They are low lifes, so they will say low life things, everything they do is wrong and we get to enjoy their misfortune when it all goes tits up.

Michael

Wow a journalist singled out some jokes and made an article about it or something?

PunchyPariah

I had “Put a bit of sellotape on the fridge!” as my PC’s email wav for years. Then had it as a message tone on my phone. Hmmm, I might do that again. :)

Manly Stump

It's funny you commented on the racial slur in this but it was in one of the Only Fools and Horses episodes you've watched as well! Can't remember the exact line but Del mentions a "sp*c wine bar" or something like that.

Love the new shirt josh u should totally watch the live shows at some point they are a bit long but well worth it the 4th wall breaking and going out of character and trying not to laugh is very funny they are all on YouTube

Always funny this show. Nothing like it on TV nowadays. They first appeared together back in the 80s in The Young Ones which itself was anarchic comedy. Just as crazy

Michael

Lmao shit i totally never realised the racial slur ha that caught me off guard and ive seen this loads of times haha, but i was born in '98 so i dont know about any context back in the 90s. I'm so glad you managed to fix the peep show upload, and im SUPER excited you're starting Extras soon

Laura_Ali

It is considered an offensive slur, it just doesn't come up very often anymore because the Italians/Spanish aren't really the prime racial targets nowadays.

Christopher John Williams

Please react to Bottom Fluff! They are outtakes to the series, there is a Fluff episode for each season :)

PunchyPariah

Yes! I was going to request that too. I think it’d be a good idea for Josh to watch the bloopers for every series that has them (Office, Extras, Derek, etc).

Relyx

Sp*c wasn't really seen as a big deal when this aired in the 90's, and probably wouldn't have been in the 00's either. There's less disdain in it over here than I would think there would be in the US. Like it's basically on par with calling the French "Frogs", the Germans "Krauts", the Argentinians "Argies", the Italian's "W*ps" or you lot "Yanks". It was just kinda how it was up until recently. Which is fair enough, as there is always some level of belittlement behind names like that no matter how much offence is intended. Think it's still fairly common for English people to call a Scot a "Jock", an Irishman a "Paddy" or a Welshmen a "Taffy" though if they are mates...

Ian Webster

Yeah, just to defend Rik and Ade, Sp*c was a term reserved for the Spanish people, and those living in Spain. The context in the US is more that you have a melting pot of peoples from around the Americas, whereas in 1990's Britain there were a lot fewer foreign people integrating with the local population like there is now. I'm sure few would toss a word like that around these days like we would have in the past. Especially not when they're friends and colleagues in ways that they weren't so much back in the day.

You have to make that t.shirt available for fan merch dude.

Haverford West

Just do a Google image search for "Esther Rantzen" and you'll get the joke as soon as you see her
