Spoiler Free: This was a really good episode I laugh throughout most of it. There were moments that reminded me of The Cosby show lol.
Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!    Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!
It surprised me when the old lady said Boys in the Hood lol. I didn't know people in Ireland knew about Boyz N the Hood, not just because its Ireland but because I have a lot of white friends and they have never heard of  Boyz N the Hood. Heck, they have never heard of most black/hood movies lol. Which isn't a big deal most people watch what they can relate to. For example:As a kid I was drawn more to shows like Family Matters , Fresh Prince or Cosby show and never seen an episode of Full House or Save by the Bell . But in my teen years I was exposed to more shows and movies as my circle of friends grew more diverse . So I assumed most people watched most things until making friends as an adult and none of them get my references lol. Dougal acting like a bratty teen was hilarious. Cracked me up when he tried to hide his earring. I figured he had an earring it reminded me of the episode of Cosby show when Theo pierced his ear without permission and tried to hide it lol. I love how whenever someone receives a cell phone call someone dies lol.
I am curious, have any of you seen Boyz N the Hood ??
Thanks for watching folks !!! Hopefully, you all are happy, safe, and healthy !!
As always I would love to read your comments below

Fr. Damo is brilliant, isn't he?

I was wondering if you'd get the Countdown reference 👏🏻😀 Yes father Damo was on about Oasis and Blur, the bands, I was impressed you got that too! Great reaction as always, thanks :) The amount of relatives you have who've been shot and stabbed is insane though 🤤

Just watching Mortimerian Tales WILTY Part 1 on YT. Now that you’re a bit of an expert at WILTY, I hope this clip is on your list, Josh. 👍

Samuel Coghlan-White

I have seen that film despite not being in the hood

yeah I watched Boyz n the Hood for the first time about 20 years ago its super deep man crazy to think its almost 30 years old. If you liked this episode you could watch Kevin & Perry go large its pretty funny and wacky with a similar vibe as this, it out early 2000's or late 90s not got the best rating on IMDB but still worth a watch IMO

Slow down Andy... think about it... WILTY works better as FULL EPISODES. Bob Mortimer 'works' better with Vic Reeves. Jim Reeves bought records by my father. My father was famous for Lying. Nobody believes he was innocent. I hope you'll shut up now and keep your opinions to yourself. But yeah... if we can get Bob in there, as a decoy....

You hum to the Father Ted theme tune, picked up on the oasis reference and recognise Dougal is dreaming about countdown, can someone get this guy a British passport already lol

Oh hell yeah josh we've seen all those types of films, actually Ireland is the biggest consumer of rap music in the world (proportional to population) from boyz to new jack to menace to society we love them all

Boys in the hood is an exellent film, the script, the acting and the directing by John Singleton, his first film i think as well which makes it even more special

Pokerpope

The theme tune, by divine comedy comes from this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7o05wDl7IJk it comes in about half way through.

I think pretty much everyone knows about Boyz n the Hood on this side of the Atlantic

Kieran B

It was the other way around I believe, it was originally written as the theme (an alternative became Woman of the World) and then they decided to repurpose it for themselves into Songs of Love

And yes - 1000 Brit-points to you for getting the countdown reference! Well done! I don’t think my wife would have got that reference and she lived in the UK for 10 years. Good work!

That's good stuff man . I wasn't exposed to most movies and shows outside of what my parents or older family members watched. Most of what they watched were predominantly black shows and movies . I didn't experience to much outside of that until my early teen years . That's when I found out about anime , comics , cable TV shows like Boy Meets world ,All that , Doug etc. I just think some people grow up in a bubble and stay in it .Some grow up exposed to a mixture of things .

That's awesome , it's cool to know that people outside of the state's have seen movies like Boyz N the Hood . Heck like I stated most of my friends don't know wth I'm talking about when I reference some of the movies . Heck Tay my girl has never seen it lol .

That's wild makes you feel old lol. Thanks, bud I will check it out for sure. I don't lean on the rating too much anyway. There are a few movies I love that have low ratings.

Congratulations on getting over 60000 subscribers Josh well done mate much deserved.

Only just watched this Josh. Your stories about your family and the stuff that's happened to them in Gary - that shocked me. So many incidents in your family. I can't imagine anywhere that dangerous, being a middle class white guy living in Britain. It boggles my mind the gun culture over there in the US. Cross that with the systemic economic disadvantages if you're from a certain area, all of that builds up, along with what you say is a terrible education system too....you've done pretty damn well

Thank you bro I appreciate the kind words. It was certainly hard growing up but I always knew I wanted more and wanted to be out of that situation. I for sure have worked very hard for myself and my family as well. Thanks again man stay safe =]

The title of this episode was The Old Grey Whistle THEFT not Thief.. it's a play on the old music based TV show The Old Grey Whistle Test.
