To be fair a lot of it is both dated and cultural humour so it's not surprising that some of the jokes go over your head. As long as you enjoy the stuff you do get then I wouldn't worry about the stuff you miss.

I think maybe you're trying too hard to understand a lot of the jokes, when for the most part the joke is, it's just a news show being over the top and stupid.
