Well that was March. How was it for you? Here at 65LABS it felt like a month long smudge of horizontal rain, simmering restlessness and the miserable interrogation of failing infrastructure. So the usual 65 party vibes, all in all.

And now to April. The long Wreckage hiatus continues to stretch ahead of us. A desert of unfinished business. How to conclude infinity? What future for the futureless? What paradigm for these intrepid, unsung pioneers of obscure sonic weirdness to smash next? How long before Patreon decides to integrate ChatGPT for its creators to help churn out their content more easily and ruins this little corner of the internet for all of us?

While we continue to figure that out, here's the update.

THE ID(L)E (NEW)S OF MARCH

  • Profound, overly-serious think pieces about Polinski's new Telex From MIDI City ultra-record are mysteriously thin on the ground. But you can read a track-by-track breakdown of the record written by Paul himself over HERE.   There's also a Q&A to be found HERE, but tbh the Qs are kind of weird.
  • Thanks to everybody who has picked up a copy. There's still some vinyl available and (perhaps unsurprisingly), there's a few copies of the limited edition VHS release available too. But not that many.
  • It's also streaming in the usual places so please do give it a listen. We think you'll like it. Links: Apple // Spotify // Soundcloud // Bandcamp
  • There's also a video for 'Youth Loop' off of the record. Check that out HERE.

  • 65daysofstatic ARE GOING ON TOUR. This remains as true as it did last month, even though we kind of forgot to mention it at all. Tickets are still available. It is going to be TEN YEARS since the release of Wild Light so we will be playing it in full. Plus a bunch of other things as we see fit. It's going to be tremendous and we're pleased to announce that unofficial fifth member FRANK, who close followers of 65 lore will be familiar with, is going to be joining us for all shows. What this means is practice is a whole extra guitar's worth of noise. So that's 25% extra static. Right in the ribs. Romancing your heart with distortion, feedback and Frank's reverb pedals, which are much more sophisticated and better-looked-after than any of the other pedals we have. Here, watch this old video of us playing Unmake the Wild Light on a boat in London once upon a time. And then buy tickets to watch us do it in September with 100% as much earnestness and at least 80% as much dexterity.

Ok, that's your monthly update for now, friends. A brief one this time, but thanks for sticking with us. It won't be as sparse as this forever. Your subscription remains paused. Enjoy your April. Fuck the tories and their prison ship hell future!

Stay safe out there,

65. x
