65daysofstatic’s ‘Wreckage Systems’ are non-sentient, automatic music machines that have been built, re-built, deconstructed, broken, fixed and fought with for several years now.

Initially conceived during the development of 2016’s No Man’s Sky: Music for an Infinite Universe, they continued to evolve via 2018-19's Decomposition Theory project, and fed into 65’s last album proper: replicr, 2019. 2019-2020’s aptly named A Year of Wreckage, a direct creator-to-listener subscription project featuring twelve EP’s of original material, was also created, in part, using these systems.

65daysofstatic are now proud to present the official formation of 65LABS. It is, ostensibly, a collaboration between themselves and the increasingly pliant collection of software, algorithms and processes that seem to have joined the band. 65LABS has been formed to better illuminate the distinction between 65daysofstatic's more established mode of 'being a band' (e.g - releasing albums and – subject to pandemics – going on tour), and their more experimental, research-based projects.

This Patreon will serve as the focal point for 65LABS. Our initial project is Wreckage Systems - an endless stream of music that we will be rolling out for patrons this week (who will get to experience firsthand the raw, elemental rush of 65-based technical failure modes) and then for everybody else next week.

We hope that this Patreon becomes enough of a success that it will be able to, in due course, sustain future projects as well. We look forward to discussing that future with all of you.

65.
