I love this movie, but you had me laughing almost non stop. "Who's throwing arrows?!" Not shooting, not firing. Throwing. I laughed so hard. As for how long it takes Frodo to get to Mordor... how long would it take you to walk 1,800 miles while constantly fearing for your life, slowly losing your sanity to this evil thing around your neck, and getting lost? You only have to wait a handful of hours to watch it, but it actually takes about six months. I'm glad you liked it though and I hope you continue and watch all three. I'm a hardcore fan, and normally I would ONLY recommend the extended versions, but in your case, the theatrical releases are fine. The extended cuts really just flesh out stuff from the books. There's only one extended scene from Return of the King that I think was essential and shouldn't have been cut. Spoiler warning: it involves a character called The Mouth of Sauron if you want to look it up later.
