Herald - A secret project for patrons (Patreon)
Content
It's been two decades since last the dunes wept, and all that remains of the shallow sea is a desert of fine, windswept black sand infused with precious metals. Water may be life, but the sand is livelihood, filled with prosperity, there for anyone to sift it.
In the center of the desert is the City of Liht'Habar, ruled by three half-siblings, the three jewels of the North. It's here where you fled with your ward, an ancient, ornately decorated draegan egg, probably the last of its kind. It's here that you will find sanctuary while you wait for your ward to emerge from the precious, impenetrable cocoon. It's here where you will find allies to shepherd in a new era.
But choose carefully. Ideals are powerful things worth killing and even dying for. Who will you call ally? Will this new era be one of peace, prosperity, fear, or war? You are forging destiny, one choice at a time. You are the herald of what is to come.
Woah! Stop. This will not have an impact on the future of Infinite Stars. Infinite Stars is still the love of my life (not taking my wonderful partner into account!) But thanks to all the fantastic support from you, my patrons, and my penchant to squirrel away funds, this project is possible.
I learned a lot about narrative game design during the last two years, and I'm excited to hone those skills with this project. It's going to shove me out of my comfort zone, as this project will be done in Unity. It opens up many doors as to what is possible while making me feel hopelessly overwhelmed at times. I am not a coder by trade (hell, I'm not even a writer either), but I'm confident I'll be able to pull this off.
Dreagan: Herald isn't publicly announced yet, and we're still figuring out the monetization route. It probably won't be free (patrons above a certain tier will, of course, receive a free copy ♥♥♥), and it probably won't be episodic. It was inspired by a short worldbuilding exercise I wrote almost a year ago for NapkinDM.
In the meantime, development of Infinite Stars continues, and I'll share periodic updates on this project (with patrons only) until we announce it publicly.
I've shared the (work-in-progress) artwork of one of the Jewels of the North, Luhlua, or Pearl in the common tongue. She is 19 years old and seems way too innocent to be a spymistress... But then again, the blade that you least expect is the one that strikes true.
