We've been scheming and consulting with various excellent programmers, and with the help of Murkwood and a friend we were able to come up with this!

Once implemented you will be able to write your own story script and have it imported into the game to be played as a side story. You'll also be able to upload your creations for others to enjoy.

With the addition to the Mah'Abeu content we're working on for the next release, in between the main episodes, you'll be able to choose where you go and who you speak with onboard the UIC Tabitha. You'll be able to ask one of the characters for any available missions or interesting events, and they'll show you a list of all the available mods.

This is one of the many steps that we're taking to make Infinite Stars more immersive!

Will you be writing a small side mission where players have to resolve a time-sensitive diplomatic incident to prevent any further breakdown in communications? Maybe something more light-hearted like the mystery of the missing custard rations? Perhaps a date night with one of the crew members where you can get to know each other better?

We're excited to see what our community comes up with!

Technical (boring) details:

The biggest challenge for our inexperienced coders was to find a way to import player creations in such a way that it wouldn't conflict with another mod. It also needed to be dynamic. We didn't want it to work with placeholders like slot1 slot2 etc. since if two people were using slot1 then there would be a conflict.

The solution was using dynamic labels.

The game scans the mod folder looking for any mods, and then builds a list from the available ones. (In the proof of concept video it shows mod1, mod2, etc, but it will show whatever your mod is named.)

The game then gives the player the option to pick a mod/side story that they would like to play. Once the side story is completed, it returns and continues the main story.
