Actually none of the voice actors are changed, they only sound different because episode 68 is the point where funimation first took over the voice acting for the series. Episodes 1-67 actually were redubbed by funimation for this remaster of dbz, however at this point some of the VAs continued to redub while others didnt. You are pretty much hearing most of the VAs trying to imitate the ocean dub, it will eventually shift to the regular style of voices you already know.

there is a cerain point where power levels become ridiculous and irrelivent but we're not to that point yet :P

Oh hello, long time no talk. I know I have been quiet for a while so figured I'd jump back in and give you some fun info on the VA's here since you have entered the Funi Dub. Ep 68 is where the Funi dub started and technically where these VA's first started voicing these characters. Everything you are hearing is their first attempts at their new voices as after the series concluded they went back and dubbed the beginning of the series again which had been only previously heard by the Ocean studios dubbing cast. They then also went and dubbed dragon ball which is why all the episodes you have heard up to now all sound very similar with the VA's they are using. Their may be some minor roles that are different from eps before 68 to after 68 but on the whole all the main characters actually have the same Voice cast, it is just that you are hearing their first takes on the roles that they would later learn to perfect.

Exactly. This isn't THE first episode of the Funimation transition, which I recall being the one where Goku landed on Earth, and I think Chris Sabat's voice might still be newer here, because his Vegeta in the early days was a lot rougher than this, when he was imitating Brian Drummond from the previous Ocean dub. Goku, you can tell Sean Schemmel is VERY new to the role if you listen carefully, and a lot of his inflection is trying to imitate Peter Kelamis from the Ocean dub. I think they might be mixing and matching here to make the transition less abrupt. Bulma is definitely not quite there, but not distractingly so. As the man said though, the cast is still the same, but in OG Dragonball you were hearing them after they'd had the majority of DBZ to break in their roles, and in all of the Z you've seen until now you're getting the seasoned voices who have been doing this for episodes, video games and all manner of stuff for the better part of a decade. OF course, Kai is where most of them believe their defining work is, even if you lose voices like Bulma, Gohan, Oolong, and a few others you haven't met yet... plus a few standout new roles, like Chris Ayres' legendary take on Frieza, which has replaced him in everything since.

Oh boy, I should have waited to comment... Some of the dub-script here is so early-2000's it hurts, and that includes the inaccuracies. Like Frieza vs Nail on its own... Frieza says he's about 500,000 times Nail's strength. No, the dub MEANS Frieza has a POWER LEVEL of 530,000, as the Japanese and Kai dub state. And I promise Nail's power level is way more than "1". And Frieza claims he'll "copy" the Namekian regenerative ability. He means he'll log it. No, Frieza cannot just steal latent abilities like he's All For One or something. Stuff like that combined with other weird choices like Vegeta's "I'm a freakin' genius" really do betray the 90's/00's writing that leaked its way into this script, either by carelessness or general attitude. But the ones that actively confuse the audience are definitely the worst, followed shortly by the more mean-spirited stuff that damage the likability of certain heroes. Thankfully, things WILL get better, but we've definitely regressed from a higher standard from a time when anime gets more respect and Dragonball is king of the castle... to a period where anime is a barely understood or respected curiosity imported from Japan and quality in terms of localization is all over the place. When Funimation stepped in here, Z had already captured the attention of the masses. Now it was a matter of being as impressive as something so popular actually deserved. Not gonna say they nailed it, but it started okay, and just got better from there. Thankfully.

Just thought about it, since dragon ball z has 291 episodes, that would make spisode 146 the halfway point and since you just finished episode 73 you're literally 1/4 of the way through dragon ball z

SABAT vs SABAT ROUND 3!!!! Vegeta vs Jeice! Most of what I had to say was covered by everyone else but, I will say getting to the fight with Captain Ginyu always reminds me of when I was a kid back in 1999. This was the glorious moment that DBZ continued after what seemed like an eternity of re-running the series from 1-67 on Toonami. The return of the show to brand new episodes finally brought us the long awaited showdown between Goku and Ginyu and everything after that. https://youtu.be/6B0oqvk6y2I - The Toonami promo announcing the return.
