The house of horrors with John Constantine is so creepy, that wall always creeps me out and Rachel’s counting before her next hit really disturbs me. Constantine is always a fun character to read, I’ve always enjoyed his comics. He’s had a movie made which starred Keanu Reeves and has had a show in CW’s Arrowverse and HBO is developing a Constantine show as well. Hope in Hell is an incredible ride, that splash page is intense and I love Michael Sheen’s portrayal of Lucifer in the audio book, in the show Lucifer will be portrayed by Gwendoline Christie, some people had hoped Tom Ellis would reprise but it wasn’t to be and the Lucifer of the comic and the Lucifer are pretty different so going with Christie might be the smart choice, Lucifer was designed off of David Bowie and Gwendoline certainly has the look. 24 Hours is freaking terrifying! I was really looking forward to finally seeing someone’s reaction to it, and you all did not disappoint. The way Gaiman builds tension in that issue is masterful. It’s a slow descent into a nightmare. We’ve seen some out and out horror before, visited a house of horrors where dreams devoured the occupants, walked through the gates of hell and faced down a horde of demons. But what goes on in that diner is on another level of terror. It’s not just the violence and depravity either, it’s the forced confessions that are really shocking. That’s the kind of horror that really sticks with you. There is a fan made video on You Tube of 24 Hours on you tube you could check out. It’s very well done. https://youtu.be/5kIP70LAIBI We’ve already been to so many locations, The Dreaming, Hell, London, Gotham and the basement of an English occultist and we’re going to so many more places. It’s cool that this is your first real introduction to DC, if a bit of a strange one. Dr Destiny was first introduced in the 1960’s in the Justice League of America comic. Jonathan Crane the guy Dee talks to in Arkham is the Batman villain Scarecrow, John Constantine originated in Alan Moore’s Saga of Swamp Thing before he got his own comic called The Hellbazer which came out in the 1980’s. Martian Manhunter is of course a long standing DC hero. Scott Free the young man Dream first met in the JLI center he is Mister Miracle and a very powerful character in DC. So basically Gaiman just reaching into the DC toy box and pulling out all the misfit toys and playing with them. Most Sandman comics are 24 pages long, there are some exceptions but not a lot. Comics in general can vary in length but don’t often run past 32 pages. The netflx show trailer, you could actually watch that, it wouldn’t actually spoil anything for you, so you don’t absolutely have to avoid it and by the time it’s released you’ll be past what they’re doing in first season. A good place to start with DC would be their DC Rebirth line which a reset that started in 2016
