Read this comment, I triple dog dare you!!! 😂 (but in all seriousness, this is important) The Fairy Tail sequel finally got an anime confirmation! It got announced on Saturday! So most likely it will be starting by this time next year! As to what to watch now, the first movie should actually be watched now. The Phoenix Priestess. It happens in between when they got home and the next canon arc (and remember the movie is also canon). As far as filler goes, here’s a list of how that works: 202-203 - based off of omakes, so they’re canon 204-218 - filler arc (I would prefer you skip it, it’s not as good as the 5th season arc, but it does give us a Michael Jackson Gray briefly) 219-220 - based off omakes 221 - filler 222 - based off omakes 223-225 - filler 226 - based off omake, and I HIGHLY recommend this one since you appreciate Ichiya’s character 😂 I understand not wanting to skip filler, I didn’t skip it the first time watching, but it would take the rest of this year to get through this particular filler at 2 episodes a week, and with the best arc coming up, that’s gonna be a painful wait 😭 maybe just watch the ones based off of omakes so that you’re still getting canon material but good chill slice of life moments before heading into the darkest arc of the show. Since this comment is already long enough, I’ll save my discussion on Ultear for a later date (because there’s SO much to discuss with her character and her fate AND how it relates to Gray).

About filler, the next filler arc is kinda weak compare to the one after 7 years-skip before grand magic games, but still far better than the mini arc after Wendy joined the guild. The story itself is interesting and fun to watch, probably the arc with the most comedic elements. Just in case you skip, I would still recommend to watch 204 since it shows more relationship between Lucy and her celestial spirits which will be one of the main plot point in the next arc (this filler arc also focuses on Lucy and her spirits too). The rest are quite fun episodes (want pop culture parodies? Laxus episode? There you go!)
