Episode 8 is where we first see the true cost of dark magic on the caster. This is partly referenced by harrow when he was dismissing the use of dark magic, saying that there is always a price for using dark magic, maybe not now but later. Also think on why do Claudia and Viren's eyes go dark when casting a spell.

On another topic, The use of Rayla's hair braid was forshadowed in episode 4's credit images, And the other elf in episode 8's credits has shown up before in episode 1's credits as the one who made a matching set of pendants for Runaan.

The Dad wasn't wrong. They are poor and the cub not pup is a wild wolf not a dog, but i would have kept the poor little wolf instead of putting it down myself

To clarify Viren didn't kill Harrow the moon elves did (the band didn't fall off till after they left the room). Don't get me wrong I don't like Viren but I won't accuse him of being THAT terrible.

Oh, shit I just noticed that episode 8 one. Props to creators for the re watch value, I legitimately felt moved.

Viren is 100% "The End justifies the Means". His goal is to make sure humanity will thrive and able to defeat Xadia. A child on the throne or an empty one will weaken the kingdom, so he is making sure that someone able to lead humanity to greatness is taking over, as soon as possible. Unfortunately, he is also incrediby self centered and cannot admit that he was wrong, meaning the only one "worthy" of ruling in his mind is him, and when he makes a mistake, he will continue his plan and not admit defeat.
