regarding the episode counts of the different seasons; This is more or less spoiler free, but I'm going to allude to something happening in season three, it's nothing major but consider yourself warned: Lucifer was originally green-lit by and aired on FOX, so broadcast TV rules apply. Originally the first two seasons had an order of 13 episodes (or in TV jargon "half a season") each. But early on in season two the network announced, that they not only had given the show an early renewal, season three would also have a "full season" (20+ episodes, in this case 24). The second season would also get a backorder of five additional episodes (leading to this seasons unusual episode count). At the end of season three FOX unceremoniously cancelled the show. The network had however paid for two more episodes. That happens sometimes. Episodes are shot as part of one production block and then get reshoots to be used differently later on. Something similar happened in season two to three. So FOX just put the theoretically completed (albeit be it without reshoots) episodes on their website, their app and Hulu, since they had already paid for them. Therefore there are two out of continuity episodes at the end of season three, inflating its already big episode count. The show moved to Netflix after that.

What an ending! I agree you have to watch two episodes back to back. Actually there were many episodes where I went 'NOOOO!' you can't leave it like that and I had to binge a few!
