I used to own a 2001 Newmar Dutch Star Diesel Pusher with Spartan Chassis. It had a living room slide and a bedroom slide and it was 39 feet long. That RV only had 58,000 miles on it and I bought it in Columbus, Ohio. I drove it back to Colorado after I purchased it. It was a good RV except for a few things. That RV had the Cummins engine with an Allison transmission with the drivers side radiator. I had the injection pump go out in the RV about 6 months after I bought it. I was driving back from a trip to Moab and approaching the Eisenhower tunnel in Colorado from the west side when the coach quit a mile from the tunnel. (I was pretty stressed out about this waiting hours for a tow truck) I had roadside service towing and if i would not have had that it would have cost me about $1500.00 for the tow. My RV was down for a month and a half because the injection pump was hard to find and they do not make them anymore. The cost for installation was $10500.00. I also needed to install new tires the following year and they were $6500.00. It is expensive to own these rigs. I would buy another one but I would make sure it has the new updated fuel rail system instead of an injection pump. I am not sure when they started using the fuel rail system. This RV was in mint condition. This RV got 6-8 miles to the gallon. Since it was older as well you need to add an additive to it because when it was made the new ultra low diesel was not being made yet. The older diesel lubricated better than the ultra low diesel. I added additive to every tank for lubrication. This was my first diesel of any kind. I ultimately got rid of mine because I was nervous about something happening again. When these kind of repairs happen it just ruins whatever trip you are on. It seems every repair to these RV's can cost thousands of dollars. Just make sure you have it inspected prior to purchasing it and don't get gun shy like I did. I would also get one with full body paint. Good luck

Do you want to spend the time converting the bus. The older I get it seems the less I want to do. Granted I am 58 now. I use the analogy of a muscle car. I would love to have a 1968 Mustang Fastback. I looked at building or just buying one finished. 99% of the time, the build ends costing you more than you can sell it for and you have put your blood, sweat and tears into it and a good couple of years for the build. On top of that it never seems like you are going to finish it. You may get burned out. I have decided that i will just buy one finished and have instant satisfaction and can drive it now as apposed to 2 years from now and more than likely pay a little less for a finished product. I am not saying that this is the thing to do for everybody, this is just what I would do.
