Just be careful. Some 4-wheel drivers get pissed and will open their door right before you get to them, hoping you run into it. Others will try to squeeze you out. CA traffic is brutal, but if you are commuting in the cities, lane splitting is a great way. Also, some other states (AZ, for example) now allow splitting, but with limits such as under 35 mph and only at stopped traffic near red lights.

Just be careful but enjoy! I move over when I see a motorcycle due to my pickup mirrors sticking out there but others are not so friendly.

But no longer in Texas, they just passed a law Against lane splitting. Probably due to so many jerks lane splitting doing wheelies or 100mph+ scarring the crap out of people. Just like shitty RVers, the few ruin it fot the many.
