No warning. Strong scent of cat piss. Still burns propane. Tried AC (auto feature) and has stopped cooling. EVERY. SINGLE. RV. I know these propane refrigerators were never meant to be used 24/7. But I don’t think I’m asking a lot here. Every single RV I have everpurchased, the fridge goes out in the first six months. One time in my life I replaced it with a brand new Dometic fridge at a cost of $2800. That fridge actually only lasted two years before having the same problem. These days, with solar power and lithium battery storage, there’s no reason to ever get another gas fridge. Just get a good energy, efficient electric fridge and make it work. Diana and I had some plans this weekend, but they have now changed due to this fridge situation. Luckily, I’m here at tater land, where I have a freezer and two fridges inside babe the blue box. so this could not have happened at a better time. And I have a truck to go purchase a fridge. So now I have plans. Lol. I will keep you guys updated this weekend. Hopefully this is a relatively easy install. We are off to Home Depot tonight to see what they have in stock.

That smell is the refrigerant gas. It probaly failed because of vibration on the compressor motor through out all your trips. The better fridges for motor homes use a solid state tech. And the older ones use ammonia gass in dual systems. The propane heats up a tank of the Gass and the a.c Feture just uses a electric heater to accomplish the same thing. The prolbem with compressor fridges is they need to be level and they don't like vibrations. Maby put some damping insulation or rubber pads on the feet of the fridge. I'd get one with a warrantee and replace them as they fail.

Bummer on the bum fridge. Yes, just find a residential electric fridge that fits with some room for airflow. You have a good inverter/battery/solar setup. The hotter the box its in, the harder the fridge works and the more energy it draws.
