Calling All Tamers!

With the recent success of Heliana’s opus, Heliana’s Guide to Monster Hunting, and her subsequent speaking appearances at many prominent adventuring guilds, the popularity of the tamer lifestyle is on the rise. More and more adventurers are discovering the joys of travelling and battling beside loyal companions. To continue showcasing the merits of the bond between tamer and companion (and to test her mettle against worthy foes), Heliana is pleased to announce  the very first Loot Tavern Taming Tournament! (Or LTTT, for short).

This adventure format lets 3 to 7 tamer and non-tamer player characters alike control companions in epic team on team combat. The party must take on each member of the Loot Tavern Staff (Humperdink, L’Arsène, Lutecia, Weathertax, and the big boss, Heliana) who, with the help of three handy clones, control a companion each. The staff have bespoke terrain that suits their companions, making this an uneven challenge; player ingenuity is the difference between success and defeat.

There’s also small side-quests where the players can persuade, bribe, or cajole individuals previously beaten by the LT Staff to give them hints on how to prepare for the fight ahead.

• Pre-Built Companions. The Companions For Hire PDF lists seven companions built out for players of levels 7 through 13. That’s 49 stat blocks of companions ready to pick and fight, giving non-tamer players a taste of the tamer playstyle.

• Alternate Game Modes. This adventure needn’t be played with a full party! With the included Variant, a single player can summon and recall their companions sequentially in a pocket-monster-style 1v1 trainer battle. There’s rules to scale this to parties of different sizes.

• Additional Material. Don’t forget about the Tamer and Companions PDF! That document (recently updated) has all the latest tamer subclasses and 32 bespoke companions. If a player wants to roll up a new tamer character, this is the resource to send them!
