Do you use iFixit or other tools?

Ardimo Harsa

Idk I'd stick for 5th gen iPod then

Excited to see the red one 1tb version 👌🏻

Anonymous

Oh man I can't wait to see your red one! I built my own 1TB 7th-gen with that same red front after finding your channel! It's the coolest!

My main gripe is with the OS on the 6Gs. At least alongside my 5.5G it feels so much slower. I do like they way they look though. Ended up putting my 5.5G internals into a 7G chassis and it looks pretty slick. There's also apparently the 2.0.5 models of the 7Gs which use vastly inferior components and from what I've heard sound like hot garbage.

Am I the only one who has no problem with opening those? I followed Elite Obsolete’s instructions and the first iPod Classic 7G I opened got scratched up but it disassembled without any structural damage to the chassis (I still plan on replacing the housing but hey, why not rock the old one if it still works). And I only drew a little bit of blood! The second and third times worked out even better. Just use the thin opening tool and push down on those clips gently

In contrast, I hate plastic front housings on iPods because in case something goes totally wrong they will snap and break, whereas the aluminium ones are more likely to survive torture. Plus, I always have bad luck with plastics clips: they snap ALL. THE. TIME.

Man. Such a pain to open. I love the design, but for me it doesn’t beat the 4th Gen. That thing is glorious to work with.

Hey Wade...can you do the comparison on the wolfson chip in 5th gen vs the sirius one in 6/7th gen? You as a musician should able to notice by playing the same song from the same file with same volume

This was my first classic iPod that I bought myself so I’m a little biased. At the time I loved this 80 gb black model but now I would rather own almost any other gen than this one. The dac in here is so much of a different sound than my other iPods and it just makes me sad. Also the 5th gen is sooooo much easier to open. My 6th gen was stolen at work but that made me break down and buy a 5th gen which is how I first learned how to fix iPods.

I remember mine crashing all the time and I was annoyed that it would crop the album art if it wasn’t the default size. However I do remember really appreciating that you could switch on and off the shuffle function from the now playing screen. Definitely something I miss using my older 4th gen now

To be honest I find the differences so minute that honestly I've never actually noticed until people told me about it... unless you're using really nice headphones (which I've only started doing the last few years) you'd struggle to tell.

Remember getting one of those knockoff Nano's on Amazon back in the day, click wheel was shocking but held all my CD songs. Completely died with all my songs on it :(

I just picked up a 7th Gen 160GB classic the other day after I started watching your channel. Apparently ebay has them for ~$230, which is nuts. I got mine for $100, excellent condition, and the woman threw in a 3rd Gen Nano. Not sure I'm quite brave enough to crack open the 7th gen quite yet though.

My mom bought this iPod in black and legit never used it. It’s been sitting in her night stand. Half tempted to ask her if I can have it for as little buckaroo’s as possible.

Anonymous

Ooohhh the 160gb one was my first ever ipod, I saved my pocket money for MONTHS to buy it, and I ADORED it. Then the first day i was walking home from school with it, a kid hit me with his bike and she flew out into oncoming traffic. I got honked at by so many cars to save her. She never was quite right after.... 'the accident'. :^(

OOH! I love mine, I have had it for a year now and bought it for 100 British coins from eBay because it had been modded already, it has a black front and back and a 'big chungo' battery in it, I think I might have had to charge it 5 times over the period I've owned it, the only reason I got it was because my car only does AUX and since apple removed that from their phones I needed something to plug in

Anonymous

The thing that really puts me off getting one of these is the split screen design. I just think it's ugly lol.

Anonymous

I loved my 160gb one. Then I saw your iPod Modding Video. And at that time my 160gb where almost full so I ordered an iFlash kit and a 256gb SD-Card. I got in there without to much damage and was very proud of me but then I ripped of a connector and I was saying to me "you fucking idiot"😂 Nut I won't give up yet. Maybe the next will do it.

Anonymous

I still have mine in really good condition, the hard drive has no errors, and the battery lasts a decent time as well.

I never cared for these 6th/6.5/7th/whatever gen iPods either. Basically for all the same reasons you mentioned, but the whole UI update. I loved the way the iPod UI was on the 4th gens (with color screens) and 5th gens. But these classics and the 3rd gen nano, I couldn't stand. I hated that the Now Playing screen had the album art in like an isometric view, I hated that the main menu that had split so the various menus weren't consistent, I just hated it.

at the end it looks like Fiona and shrek are fighting

The best part about having severe brain damage from alcoholism is being able to support the dank boi by rewatching his vids a hundred times over and being entertained every time.

The main reason why the 6th and 7th gen Classic is my favorite is that they are the only ones that allow you to control the music with the buttons on your headphones, without having to buy a separate remote. It makes them MUCH easier and more convenient to live with and use as your main dedicated music player. They also look the best imo. I have a decent sized iPod collection (including nearly every model) but I daily use my 6th gen 128 GB flashmodded iPod (the first flashmod I've done) because it's just so convenient to use. If only it had bluetooth

Dank, what's your thoughts on the 6th gen 160GB iPod classic ?

Rachel Colameco

3rd gen and 5.5 for me. 3rd gens are just soooo beautiful looking. And my modded 5.5 is just the most perfect jam box for me.

He dislikes 6 and 7 gens so much, the video length is 5:55 lol
