Vega's hand (Patreon)

A few more sketches, but in a new sketchbook. Somewhat disappointed in Fabriano's torchon paper, it keeps on absorbing gouache thus I could not make a bright highlights at all. Sometimes I feel like cheap thin paper works much better rather than any thick and expencive one, even if it bleeds through I still have a bunch of nice pieces made on 60 g/m2 and I had no problems with adding gouache on top of them.

Back to: on the right you can see an idea for Vega's fingers and joints at all. What if they could expand or contract depending on situation? I was thinking about it from the first day of her final design, because with these abilities she will be able to hold and manipulate different objects. Even with a such elaborate surfaces like human's weapons' grips and triggers, where they are designed for five fingers and she has only two, and if they had not been able to circle around the grip she would just lose it in the process. Weird association, I know, but it has a connection to welding and other operations she performed on the ship mentioned earlier, where she was first awaken after a while.
