Cedar Wood walked through the hospital. His hooves making clanking sounds on the hard shiny floor. Looking up he saw a few room numbers, none matched 23 just yet.

Finally he reached it. He hesitated at the door nervous to go in. The day his daughter would most likely remember for the rest of her life.

He remembered being at work just 20 min before and getting a call about how his daughter was in the hospital. She had been in another accident with another pony.

He opened the door and walked in with Ditzy sitting on the bed rubbing her arm.
“Hey kiddo, you alright?”

Ditzy looked up and sighed. “Ran into another kid by accident, I just hurt my arm. Teachers freaked out I broke It. Just gonna bruise.”

Cedar sighed relief, her teachers did have a habit of over doing explanations.

“The other kid has a broken leg and concussion.” Ditzy silently said.

Her father lower his ears and shook his head side to side.

Ditzy looked up. “I know what you’re going to say.”

”Yeah, you should. I’m sorry Derpy, but…I’m pulling you from flight school. The papers are already done.“

Derpy looked away and held tears back. “It’s not fair…” 

Cedar looked away, sometimes parents didn‘t know what to say. After that collision with a tree and another pony her vision started to go down. One of the best young flyers turned into the worse. More accidents happened. More injuries. He did what any parent would do, stop the flying. The racing. He didn’t want her to get hurt even more. 

”ITS NOT FAIR!“ Ditzy cried out.

She pointed at herself in almost a begging like state.
“I can still fly! I can still fly, RIGHT? Please tell me this eye won’t take that away!”

Cedar put a hoof on his daughter’s leg.
“let’s go home.”

It wasn’t a straight answer but it stuck her so hard she started to cry hard. Cedar picked his daughter up and cradled her. Until she fell asleep from crying and he carried her home.

This is based on that one scene in mlp where it shows Derpy / Ditzy on top then slowly going down as her eyes change.

I decided to go with she had a head injury that made her eye blind and messed up. Causing her massive issues when she flys.

Little did she know, she would be one of the first Pegasi to keep flying even with only one functional eye. And who knows, perhaps a young lad finds comfort in her trying that he does too.
