1: Child Hood: 

Ever since Apple Crust could remember, he had a crush on Magnolia Star. In his full honest opinion, no matter what any pony said, he knew she was the prettiest filly in all of Equstria! 

That little crush grew bigger as time they each grew up. With each year that passed, he became more and more interested in Magnolia. That small boy crush turned into something bigger. And he knew she had felt the same with the way they felt comfortable around each other. They joked, laughed, spent time together playing games in the apple trees. However, little did Crusty knew, that kindness shown to him was a different feeling. A feel of complete friendship. Nothing more. 

2: "Oh...."

"I'm sorry Apple Crust, I just...I view you as a brother nothing more." Magnolia spoke softly. 

She had known of his feelings for quite some time now. But just never knew how to approach him without him doing it first. Just in case she had been wrong. 

"I understand." 

Truth be told Apple Crust didn't understand the rejection. He felt the cool night air start to set in around his body. He held in a shiver. Tonight was supposed to be perfect. He was going to ask her to be his plus one for the Grand Galloping Galla. She would say yes. They would be happy. Get married and start a family. Simple. 

However, this was not how it was supposed to go. 

He gulped, unsure of what to say. Brother. Thats what he was to her. That had to be ok. It would be ok. 

Magnolia was having a hard time looking at Crusty. She didn't want to hurt him in any way but she just didn't feel the same way. 

"Crusty...I..." She started. 

Apple Crust held up a hoof. "No, its ok. Really." 

He held back some tears and took a big breath. 

"You view me as a brother. And thats ok. I love our friendship and I love you. But if you don't feel the same. Its ok. I don't want to lose our friendship in any way. I will throw away this feelin' away to keep it." 

Magnolia had a small smile appear on her face. 

"I'm not asking you to do anything?" 

"I'm doing it for myself. Brother and sister." Apple Crust held his hoof to her. 

Magnolia felt...regret? She was not sure. As long as he wasn't hurt.

She lifted her hoof and held his. "Brother and sister."

The first “version” of dusk verse per se I actually had Magnolias old design get together with Apple Crust, but I decided to change that when I redid her story and what not. And this go, she actually views him as a brother and nothing more. While Apple Crusts still had that crush.

Of course, he pushed his feelings as deep as possible. And in the end, Apple Crust actually enjoyed the relationship just as it was. Family. He truly became a big brother to Magnolia.
