Two extremely rich, high status, and royal married couple.

Night Light and Velvet where both betrothed for estate reasons. There marriage was not forged on love and still, there is distant between the two. Night however, does care for his wife but she has different views. And that is views on family.

Night Light was esthetic to become a father. And when Shining Armor was born, he hit number one dad in the papers. He wanted his Shining to be the best. But he was kind and gentle. Velvet, on the other hand, forced her son to uphold there name. They where a great family, and her child would make a name for himself. Wether he liked it or not.

So when he showed potential in becoming a guard she shoved it down his throat.

Night tried to make it enjoyable and he was the only way Shining genuinely enjoyed it. When he worked with his father. Shining Armor has a very…difficult relationship with his mom.

Shining was Velvets “pride and joy” because he made it big time, just like she wanted him to be. So when Twilight Sparkle came in, she had high expectations.

Which Twilight suffered for. Her mothers pestering and unkindness finally stopped when she finally became queen and an Alicorn. Now she had something to be proud of.

This caused Twilight to have a ruined relationship with her mother. Twilight keeps her children away from her mother as much as possible. But she loves her father with everything she has.
It makes for awkward royal gatherings.

A little bit on Twilights and Shinings parents. I wanna expand more on them since Velvet is the reason Twilight is the reason she was with Dusk training wise.
