The main tourist drag of Key West is like Bourbon Street deep throated a mall and threw up on a Caribbean island, with a liberal sprinkling of wild chickens. But the water is impossibly blue and the sand is soft as cornmeal. So it’s a pretty good argument for the theory that capitalism ruins everything.

Once I got off the main drag though, it was really quite lovely and I could see wanting to take a vacation there or even live there if you wanted a more quiet, laid back, life. Nasty says her plan b/retirement dream is to live in Key West and make dresses for Miami drag queens.
