After being on their mailing list for an embarrassingly long amount of time, I'm finally submitting art to the Seattle Erotic Art Festival.

I forgot that submitting art to things means you have to write about them and yourself. Since I spent all damn day writing these things out, I wanted to share them with you. At least SOMEONE reading them will give a damn.

Bio: Alithea Howes is an artist who finds  beauty in the small and strange. Her erotic art aims to capture the magic of small seductive moments; a gasp, a look, the specific texture of a fetish object. It also explores the darker side of sexuality and an  attraction to sinister masculine archetypes.

Submission #1: Rose of Sharon

Inspired by Song of Solomon by Kate Bush. The song's delicacy and warmth  is reflected in the colors of the piece, while the brush strokes evoke its breathless sensuality. The title comes from the lyrics but also references the character from The Grapes of Wrath, whose breast milk saves a man's life, making her a symbol of hope and female power.

Submission #2: A Stiff Drink

I love the heat I managed to capture in this piece, especially in the subject's expression. I love the rumpled texture in the suit. The relatively small amount of skin shown only serves to heighten the sense of anticipation, that feeling of a breath taken right before diving in.

Submission #3: Ox Blood

Domination and destruction often looks best dressed up in a sharp suit. The title comes from a specific shade of red that's used in menswear, usually in shoe and belt leather.
