My hostel is insane and tacky but in a really delightful way. I got on the plane at 7pm last night and got to Prague around 4am (New York time) so I've been pretty out of it all day. I waited by the baggage carousel and... no baggage came out. Like, none. After a while the hot guy next to me (apparently I'm really into eastern European dudes) exclaimed "Welcome to Prague, where everything is a fucking problem!" His accent told me he knew whereof he spoke. Sure enough, our plane just hadn't loaded any luggage in Berlin. But we were assured that it would probably be on the 7pm flight and they'd send it from there to wherever we were staying. This would have been fine were it not for the fact that my winter coat was in my bag and it is definitely winter here. So I haven't seen much of Prague yet. I've wandered a little, trying to find my hostel, a power converter, and food, but I've been too busy freezing my ass off to really appreciate the old world charm. Mostly I've been reading a history of The Devil and feeling cold and alone. I realized I haven't traveled internationally on my own since I went to Brazil almost a decade ago. It's more lonely than I remember but hopefully that'll wear off when I can actually go do things.
