My darling patrons, I'm so sorry I haven't posted. Prett much all my extra time and energy has gone into The Art Challenge Formerly Known as Inktober.

Usually October is the busiest month for GTAs and I don't have time or energy to do anything other than work, eat, and fall asleep watching horror movies.
But because of the pandemic I barely had anything scheduled so it seemed like the perfect time to make a new drawing every day. I ended up getting a bunch of gigs at the last minute so it ended up still being my busiest month of the year, but not as bad as usual.

I didn't manage to do all 31 drawings. But I think part of this challenge for me was being kind enough to myself to not do every drawing. The first 10 days I managed a drawing every day and almost every drawing was one I was proud of. But it was also the only thing I was doing, apart from making dinner and sometimes not even that. So that wasn't really sustainable. Still, 23 out of 31 is pretty good.

I learned that I really like having drawing prompts and that random combinations of words can lead to some really cool and surprising stuff. I think it's a practice I'll continue throughout the year, maybe on a weekly basis.

Having the limitation of only working in black and white really pushed me to work in detail and texture but it's not something I want to do all the time. Originally I was only going to work in pen but that proved way too hard on my wrists so I expanded to ink and charcoal.
It *was* easier to focus the image when I didn't have to make decisions about medium or color so I should put some thought into what self imposed limitations I would want to keep going forward.

What really surprised me was the Vampire Ice Cream drawing. The idea came to me out of nowhere and was so much fun to draw that I kept giggling while I worked. It's so different from what I usually draw but I love it. And other people love it! And drawing it felt easy.

I colored it yesterday and have already sold a print on Redbubble.

I feel like this addresses all the problems I had in my last post. There's depth, movement, expression, and a full composition. Where did this come from? I feel like I cheated somehow.

I was inspired to draw something in the same vein this morning.

It was a little harder to get the posing right on this one. It still needs a background. And I don't think the cherry boobs will really work until the coloring is done but, like, this is hilarious.

It's a little frustrating to suddenly be pulled towards doing something COMPLETELY different from what I've been doing so far. But this is fun. And it seems to be commercially appealing so I guess I'll keep at it.
