I figured I should try a poster design for a more well known movie, and I've been really into Hellraiser recently. Originally, I wanted to do a more serious Hellraiser, and I may still, but all the ideas I had first were silly. And I think there's  room in the world for funny Hellraiser merch.

Training Poster
My first idea was a training pamphlet/poster for a new cenobite.

If I go ahead with this idea I'll make original drawings, either in my normal watercolor style, or in the style of old engravings.

Or maybe some combination of the two? I'll also write more instructional copy, like what their harassment policy is, maybe a dress code.

Gym Shirt
This next idea I normally wouldn't even think of but there's a nerdy t-shirt site that has a whole section of gym shirts. Hellraiser is obviously a great fit for gym culture.

Recruitment Poster
In the same vein as the training poster, I thought a cenobite recruitment poster would be hilarious.

The style it's in now is ok, but if I went ahead with this design I'd do an original watercolor and probably tweak it to look more like a 40's war recruitment poster.

Originally I wanted to do this in a very simple vector-y style like this

But it turns out that I am NOT well suited to this style

I'm embarrassed by how long this took before I was like "fuck this."

Inspirational Poster

I probably won't do this one but I think it's hilarious! The quote is attributed to Kahlil Gibran because the attributions on inspirational internet images are almost ALWAYS wrong. Also I was forced to buy The Prophet for my college speech class and I hated it. I have no idea if anyone else would think this is funny. And, honestly, I don't think there's anything I could add to it by making my own version of this image, but I can't just use pre-existing images I got off the internet. I may release it into the wild as a meme though.

Squad Goals
This slogan was Johnny's idea. The rest came from looking at it in different fonts. I fell in love with the idea of an 80's teen movie style Hellraiser image. And, obviously, the pink triangle is a subtle(?) nod to the queer community that inspired so much of the film. Again, I'd do an original painting of the cenobites.

A Serious One

I don't have any compositional ideas for a serious poster right now, just some vague notions

Frank and Julia in a Raph Steadman-y style

Kirsty and Pinhead in a splashy watercolory style.

I couldn't find any google images of Pinhead and Kirsty together but I found a surprising(?) amount of Pinhead/Kirsty fan art. And apparently in the comics she actually becomes Pinhead? I gotta read these comics.

Both of these would be good challenges for me and the art style I've been cultivating. But they would definitely be CHALLENGES.

So what do you think? Any of these worth going forward with?

You can vote for as many as you want and I'd really love to hear your thoughts. Even if you only wish to express your thoughts in the form of box clicking.
