Guess who spent a few hours making this awesome illustration *before* reading the rules for Dexter Licensing? THIS GAL.
They don't allow any likeness of Michael C Hall. Now that I know that, it seems obvious. Lots of people have to get paid for likeness rights. So.....oops.
Still, it looks good. I can put it in my portfolio.
I checked the rules for other properties I've been working on fan art for.
Community doesn't allow any character likenesses. So I can stop working on this portrait of Annie.
It's not bad but it's not great. I'm not sure what it needs to be better though.
And the Hitchcock rules say "Do feel free to reference, get inspired by, and create works related to the following Hitchcock films: Vertigo, Rear Window, Rope, The Man Who Knew Too Much, The Trouble with Harry." It doesn't mention psycho. But it doesn't say NOT to do psycho. So I'm still not sure if I can use this Norman Bates.
But this one also seems portfolio worthy.
Twin Peaks, unsurprisingly, has some *oddly* specific dos and don'ts. But original drawings of the characters are allowed. As long as they're not too cartoony. Or depict David Lynch, or Log Lady with no hair. Or... well, you get the idea.
So I *can* use this Madchen Amick. If I ever get it to a point that I'm happy with.
Again, not sure how to make it better. I might just need to redo the face completely.
Oh well. At least I'm really happy with this portrait of Baryshnikov.
