so the thing about this episode that's not immediately apparent bc they had lana play young!regina is that regina is like, 18 years old here. she's DEFINITELY not old enough to be snow's mom, and the king is at least regina's parents' age, if not older. and regina was stuck being married to him and being snow's stepmom after that for years, with all the (horrifying) things that entails. so while avenging daniel's death has become The Focal Point of her vengeance and fixaton, i think there are more layers to her grudge against snow + reasons why she would hold onto it for so long

Bailee Madison does a wonderful job of playing young Snow and she looks like the spitting image of a young Ginnifer Goodwin ( Snow White). The actress has quite a range of emotions!
