Just as Early was a reflection of River, the "villain" of the Serenity movie provides insight into Shepherd Book. No details, but a glimpse that hints at his backstory.

2023-10-26 12:31:04 I feel like there is so much amazing philosophy and character study in this episode that I can't ever detangle it all, every time i watch it I gain a new insight about it (or i think i do 😛). It's gotta be one of Whedon's best pieces of art for sure. Edit : on this episode's Wikipedia page it says "Whedon has said that if he were forced to pick one piece of work to represent his entire body of work, he would pick this episode."
