Yeah you totally got it Sof, River was making fun of Jayne in her habitual cryptic ways because he didn't get his reward 😆 she's awesome 💜 Also I think it's safe to assume Jayne already had the idea of betraying them before the attack because he knew they were going to a core planet, but maybe he wasn't sure if he would have a good opportunity this time; but River attacking him (cause she sensed his shadyness) and then Simon coming up with the job made him decide it was actually the perfect opportunity.

The scene with Jayne and Mal at the end... Obsessed. Jayne shows the littlest care and Mal lets him back in... Such beautiful insight into these two characters in just a few seconds. So good.

Gillian

Its subtle and was never fully developed in the show, but in Shindig River rips Blue Sun labels off the cans, and here she cuts the Blue Sun logo on Jayne's tshirt

Yes, Sofie, you were so correct suggesting that something must have triggered River to slice Jayne's shirt with part of Jayne. To expand on Gillian's point, The true "Big Bad" in the show in not the Alliance, but the Blue Sun Corporation. Blue Sun is a mega-sized, all-powerful corporation that makes everything from canned food to T-Shirts. The corporation is so large that it is the puppet-master of the Alliance government. It also seems the Blue Sun Corporation is behind the "Academy" that tortured River (two by two, hands of blue). The "Blue Hands Guys" show that they have no regard for anybody, including government officials. Killing the Feds reduces risk to the corporation, so they do it without hesitation.

"They took Christmas away..." That whole bit is River reading Jayne's childhood memories and spouting them back. Simon (and we) hear basically nonsense but Jayne is spooked by this and by her - and not for the last time, nor the first... Also by this point, Jayne has been double-crossed by the Alliance, so he's going to do whatever he can to get them all out, IF an opportunity arises... No Sofie, she can't see the future. She can obviously read minds and is also highly intuitive, insightful and intelligent; but she's not prescient. She read the other doctors' minds casually and knew that one doctor had given the wrong meds to the patient. Simon had to ask.

They didn't build an ambulance from scratch. They bought a cheap wreck from the junkyard and repaired it. Wash threw a catalyzer at it, if you notice (maybe shoulda kept that catalyzer in case it was good lol)
