It usually takes a couple episodes, sometimes even seasons for the audience to fall in love with characters. But this show? Starts from high gear from the beginning and already gets you invested from just the pilot. Good character writing. The characters are already so likeable. You’re gonna love this series! Idk if you know that it… uh… has only… 🤫. Anyway great reaction! Mal is harsh but also hilarious.

It is insane how good the show is from episode 1. Even Buffy took like a season and a half to get good yet this one is just brilliant from the first moment.

Glad you liked it. Don't worry about trying to figure out all the geography and history right away. What's needed will be explained in the future.

The first episode is a lot to take in because it introduces so many new concepts, but the show definitely gets easier to follow after this. The actor who played the undercover agent also played villains on Buffy and Angel (two separate characters though), so we probably should've suspected him right away as the mole.

Also for anyone who likes the concept of this show there are a couple anime's you would also probably like; Cowboy Bebop, and Outlaw Star.

I would be hard pressed to pick one of the Whedonverse shows to be my favorite. All of them are great in their own way. I heard it said that if you cannot connect to at least one of the crew of Serenity, you simply do not have a soul…. I still believe that. Looking forward to your reactions to this incredible show!

I am so damn happy you have started this show!!! It is pretty shirt but it is fantastic. Also want to add here that you should continue the whedonverse shows after Angel by watching Dollhouse. It only has 2 seasons but the actress that plays Faith is the main character and it amazing!

Think about this show like a Joss rejected Star wars project that got pity pick up by FOX, without any real belief it would work. Alliance=Empire, Brown Coat=Separatist, River=Force-Sensitive. Chinese was a way to get around the censor for swearing. Yeah, Mal loss faith 6 years ago, and Shepherd Book was the one who ordered the bombing of Serenity Valley. Back in the days, that's how you did a pilot or finale, 2 episode special. After the "Crazy Ivan" if look closely Wash is not holding anything. Keep flying, land as little as you can, "they can take the sky from me".
