I was kind of hoping a new BVS episode but it's the 3rd time this episode is updated, first time was on February 20.

"Strong like an Amazon"- it's what Tara says to Willow in The Body episode, when she's breaking down about Joyce. Imagine how gutwrenching and horrifying it would have been if Amber Benson had agreed to return for this episode. Imagine "Tara" telling Willow to kill herself. It makes me sick to think about but so in line with Evil Joss (pre-2020 version of Evil Joss, I mean). I saw an interview with Benson saying Joss had asked her to return in season 7 but she would have to be evil and she chose not to do that, as others have commented, because she didn't want it to affect the memory the fans have of sweet Tara.

The song "Blue" at the beginning (and end) of this ep was co-written by Joss Whedon specifically for the episode. Performed by Angie Hart.

November 12 2002 was actually the date of the first airing of this episode. Kind of chill giving, with spooky dark tone of the opening. And the whole thing really.

Way to wrap up Jonathan's arc here. In Earshot, his first big episode, he wanted to shoot himself bc no one seemingly cared about him; here, he literally says he doesn't mind if people actually care about him or not, he still cares for them...

I love the fact that you figured Buffy out minutes before Holden did 💯 and that you called him Spike 2.0 before the big reveal that he seemingly sired him 😂

The things that Andrew and Jonathan say in the car on their way to Sunnydale "Desde abajo te devora" and "It eats you starting with your bottom" just mean "From beneath you it devours" in Spanish and in Andrew speech lol 👀

Stargazer : "Sorry for being a buzzkill...again..." Yeah, I don't believe you. You posted this 18 minutes after she uploaded, so your post was clearly not about Sophie's thoughts and reaction, but just another chance for you to crap on an episode you don't like. I get it. I have several issues with the Buffyverse in general, so I understand having complaints. But this really doesn't seem like the venue to post multi-paragraph rants about what you hate before even listening to a reactor's thoughts. There's plenty of places on the internet for that. You should check out the Buffy sub on Reddit. They love hating on the show 20 years later.

And while you’re a well known name on many patreons that hostile response says everything. You have made the list of people whose comments must be vetted.

I do not say this to be mean, but just to point something out. I have a habit of skipping ahead to the reactor's thoughts before watching the reaction itself. It's weird, but I hate watching a reaction to a favorite episode when a reactor can't stand it. I need to know they like it before I watch. This means I post comments sometimes five minutes after the reactor posts. I then go back and watch the full reaction and leave another comment if I have additional thoughts. People probably wonder why, whenever I do skip ahead, I always start my comment by saying, "so I skipped ahead to your thoughts..." This, is why. I'm paranoid someone will think I fake-watched, or I came on here just to be a pain. Sometimes things aren't what they seem. And opinions are like assholes. Everybody's got one.

I'll try to say this gently. I don't really disagree with anything here but, being as Sofie doesn't know where the plot is going, discussing how they could have gotten there through xyz instead of abc seems like indirect spoilers. You yourself said that it doesn't hold up to you on REWATCH and Sofie's closing thought's may be potentially influenced by this statement or the replies that it invites from those who disagree with you.

Raven Dark

Holy crap. I love this reaction so much. Everything about it is fantastic. I wanna go back and watch it again. LOL I can't express how excited I am for the next one.

Raven Dark

Gotta say one other quick thing. Sofie: please let me know, guys. Do you really think that it was really Joyce and really Johnathan,,, Because Cassie wasn't really Cassie...?" I think you mean Warren. Please, guys, NO ONE answer her. :D

This is 1 of my favourite episodes in the series! The way Azura (Cassie) delivered that line at the end gave me chills! “Oh, not it. Me.” The scenes with Joyce on the couch with another presence scared the fuck outta me when I first saw this. It didn’t help that I watched this episode at night and I was alone in the house 🫣. I noticed Xander isn’t in this episode for whatever reason. The only episode he hasn’t been in as of yet. IMAGINE HE GOT TO SPEAK WITH JESSE FROM S1! 😲 But the question still remains! Is it Joyce? Is it a demon? Or is Sofie losing her mind? 🤫

Are there many trees, or are there many roots to the one tree? The answer, of course, is Yes.

Funny you should mention the whole Jesse thing, because the big rumor was that the original plans were for Xander to talk to Jesse, and before they went with Cassie, they were actually trying to get Amber Benson to return as Tara to do those scenes with Willow, neither actor was available but it would have been pretty cool if either one of the these had actually happen.

Martin Waits

Nice connection! I always liked that we got to see Jonathan's better side in this episode, but I had never linked it to Earshot like that.

Martin Waits

My understanding was that Amber Benson wouldn't portray Tara as an evil thing because of the significance of Tillow.

Martin Waits

To be fair, the Buffy sub both hates and absolutely loves on the show 20 years later. But you are 100% right that it is the appropriate venue for multiparagraph rants.

The Witch Hawk

OH absolutely. I remember watching this at the time (always a Tuesday night), and thinking, "Oh this is happening right now. This is happening to all of these people this very night."

The Witch Hawk

Johnathan sees Warren standing behind Andrew right before he is murdered. Clearly, this spirit/Warren can choose who sees him and who does not. I always thought this was particularly cruel. Perhaps there are other instances in the show where we have seen characters in conversation with people whom they can see and others cannot see? There is a very clear answer to your question regarding the identities of the "dead people" in this episode, but it's a spoiler to tell you! Sorry, you'll have to SAVOR THE MYSTERY while it lasts! This is one of the few episodes where we don't see Xander :(

CeNedra

Originally Jessie was going to be Xanders 'dead' person but it was too much for one episode. It would have been good to bring him back though 🤔

Lex Larae

This is one of my favorite episodes of Buffy. It’s the only time Buffy really does a full deep dive analysis on her own personality and behavior. I think this is also helps her understand her dark impulses more and in turn faith more.

Shannon

I don’t have a source, but I have read several times that Amber Benson was asked to return as Tara but that she didn’t want to portray her that way (the way Cassie does once Willow realizes it’s not Tara speaking through her). These last few episodes are a double edged sword - I can’t wait for you to be finished so we can openly discuss everything, but ugh, I hate to see it end!

Riddle

My favourite episode of season 7. I think it's so masterfully written. I absolutely adore this episode and how each character is having their own experience with dead people. This was also the episode I truly began to love Dawn. What strength she showed in this episode.
